The Wardlaw Brothers - "Only Believe" - Congratulations to The Wardlaw Brothers, who were nominated as 'Best New Artist' at Clear Channel station WSOK in Savannah, GA. - Very rarely is the entertainment industry blessed with siblings. To couple that, how often are we blessed with 5 biological brothers? There are only two names that usually come to mind when thinking of 5 biological brothers that have made an impact on the world through music, and that would be The Jackson 5 and The Winans.
With that, "TWB" is the acronym for The Wardlaw Brothers. They are the sons of Rev. and Mrs. Carl Wardlaw Jr. of Lyons, Georgia (Toombs County). The brothers range in age from 22 to 30 years old. In the group are four lead singers. Among them, one brother has earned his bachelor's degree in music and is the primary writer and musician for the group. With diversity in personality and style, the eldest brother Carl Anthony "Tony", is not only one of the leads, he's also the businessman that is in the process of completing his Master's degree; Martin "Luther"; the writer/musician; the baseman/entrepreneur "Jamie"Cornelius. Carl "C Love" III the holy-hip hop soul and Rodney "Allen" the baby who is one of our leads and the computer wiz.
The Wardlaw Brothers have been affiliated with church all their lives; however, it was not until 1982 that the family developed a personal relationship with Christ. That year in the town of Tillicum, Washington, God began to anoint the Wardlaw family under the stewardship of the great Rev. Melvin Clark, the pastor of the Friendly Missionary Baptist Church. Listening to the voice of God, Rev. Clark assembled the Friendly Baptist Church Choir. The choir consisted of his three children and all the Wardlaw children. Soon after, the choir began to perform all over the Southwestern region of the state of Washington. They sang songs such as: Swing Low Sweet Chariot; Hush Somebody Calling My Name; Peace Like A River; and I Am On The Battlefield For My Lord.
In the spring of 1983 the family moved back to Lyons, Georgia and immediately joined the White's Chapel Baptist Church. It was not long before God inspired Mother Wardlaw to take over the direction of her children. She would have them singing in Union Meetings, Associations, and Youth Programs as the representatives for the youth at White's Chapel Baptist Church. Because they did not have a musician, the Wardlaw's had to establish vocal harmony within their group. After years of dedicated praising and singing, God moved and blessed the family with their very own musician, Martin Luther and assigned the eldest brother Carl Anthony over instructing the family's music ministry.
Having been inspired by the popular gospel group Take 6 and the famous R&B group Boyz II Men, the brothers sought to bring a new sound to their music. It was at this time, the brothers began to revise the original songs that they had song as lads in Tillicum, Washington. As the brothers began to establish their own unique brand of harmony and acclamation, God again blessed them. This time God touched the minds of the brothers, and they composed their first song. Soon, The Wardlaw Brothers found themselves arranging songs for each occasion that they were to appear.
Currently, "TWB" just completed the recording their debut CD for national release (that you can purchase on CDBaby.com) for Knew Records, Inc. (a subsidiary of Knew Beginnings Entertainment) under the direction of its President/CEO music industry veteran Dina R. Andrews from Los Angeles, Ca.
Know that "TWB" has set out on a mission for God. Their quest is to spread the Gospel throughout the world at all times in order that God's will be done. In so doing, "TWB" aspires to bridge the gap between African American/Minority and European-American relations, and to provide an alternative to the stereotype of the black male. They promote family ties and are strong advocates of education. Finally, "TWB" strives to build minority economic development and entrepreneurship. Already established through them is Hand To Hand, Heart To Heart non-profit mentoring program for young men. With God always before them, they know there are no boundaries for The Wardlaw Brothers. Stay Blessed...TWB
