Constance Galbreath

Miss. Constance Nicole Galbreath, age 18, Vidalia, died Tuesday, November 5, 2002, in Memorial Health University Medical Center of Savannah from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on October 28, 2002.

The lifelong Toombs County resident was a 2002 graduate of Toombs County High School. She was a student at Heart of Georgia Technical College and attended New Corinth Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, G.C. Galbreath.

Survivors include her parents, Joyce and Dale Galbreath, Vidalia; one sister, Jenna Galbreath, Vidalia; one brother, Blake Galbreath, Vidalia, her fiance, Stan Riner, Vidalia, her maternal grandparents, J. Hall and Jean NeeSmith, Cedar Crossing; and her paternal grandmother, Margie Galbreath, Vidalia.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, November 8, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home in Vidalia with the Reverend Stephen Toole and the Reverend Bob Corley officiating. Interment followed in Galbreath Cemetery in Toombs County.

Active pallbearers were Jason Scarborough, Jason Adams, Clint Conner, Brian Gillis, Christopher Wiggins, and Justin Jay. Honorary pallbearers were members of the 2002 graduating class of Toombs County High School.

Annie Gothard

Mrs. Annie Gothard, age 95, McRae, died Saturday, November 9, 2002.

The Thomas County native was the daughter of the late Elisha and Mary Lilla Aldridge Gibson. She had resided most of her life in Thomas County. She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church of Thomasville, Ga., and the Briarcliff Garden Club. She was prceded in death by her busband, Cary Arthur Gothard, and one grandson.

Survivors include three daughers, Barbara G. Wood, Snellville, Doris G. Mountjoy, McRae, and Carianne G. Tippett, Vidalia; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, November 12, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville.

Marcelina Hinojosa

Mrs. Marcelina Mendez Hinojosa, age 66, Lyons, died Saturday, November 9, 2002, in Meadows Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

Survivors include five daughters and five sons, including Corina Florez and Andrea Cruz, both of Toombs County; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 12, 2002, in Dade City, Fla.

Ebin Lane, Jr.

Mr. Ebin Lane, Jr., Vidalia, died Monday, November 28, 2002, in Meadows Regional Medical Center.

The Jefferson County native was a Methodist by faith.

Survivors include six sons, Julian Lane, St. Petersburg, Fla., Palmer Lane, Santa Clause, James Lane, Lyons, Marvin Lane, Vidalia, Mark Lane, Augusta, and David Lane, Mt. Vernon, one daughter, Patricia Lane, Vidalia; one brother, Walter Lane, Miami, Fla.; two sisters, Mattie Mitchell, Swainsboro, and Hattie Lee McNear, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one special family friend, Daniel White.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 2, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in St. Luke A.M.E. Church of Lyons with the Reverend S.L. Ruth officiating. Interment followed in Oak Park Cemetery.

Edward Lawrence

Mr. Edward T. "Booger" Lawrence, age 46, Baxley, died Sunday, November 3, 2002, in Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

The Montgomery County native had resided in Baxley for the past six years and four months. He was a member of Oasis Church of God in Lyons, the Appling County Young Farmers Association, and was Tow Tractor Chairman of the Young Farmers. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Goff Lawrence.

Survivors include his wife, Latrell Giddens Lawrence, Baxley; his father, W.T. "Buddy" Lawrence, Vidalia; one sister Michelle Hughes, Vidalia; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, November 5, 2002, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of David E. Miles Funeral Home in Baxley with the Reverend Gilbert Wommack and the Reverend David Deen officiating. Interment followed in Zoar Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Keith Norris, Tim Royals, Sammy Norris, Brian Johnson, Brian Love, Bradley Rowell, Shane Griffin and Scott Bargeron. Honorary pallbearers were members of Oasis Church of God, Joey and Teresa Hiers, Jerry and brenda Hallman, Joe and Debbie Sanutti, Jerry and Nancy Williams, Eddie and Barbara Johnson, Joe's Coffee Club, Eddie and LaDonna Tomberlin, Rev. R.M. Warren, Jamie and Redonnia Jackson and members of the Young Farmers Association, and James and Marla Tomberlin.

Rev. Lemac Poole

Rev. Lemac Poole, Vidalia, died Tuesday, October 29, 2002, in Meadows Regional Medical Center.

The Montgomery County native served as assistant pastor of St. John's Baptist Church Long Pond. He was retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service, and earned a B.A. degree in Criminal Justice from Tift College in Forsyth.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Poole, Vidalia; one son, Marcus Poole, Vidalia; one brother, John Thomas, Lizella, Ga.; two sisters, Lorine Jackson, Vidalia, and Christine McClain, Mt. Vernon; one granddaughter; and one daughter-in-law, Kristy Poole, Vidalia.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, November 3, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in Flipper New Hope Mehodist Church in Uvalda wit the Reverend Carl Wardlaw officiating. Interment followed in Old Salem Cemetery in Uvalda.

Henry Purcell

Mr. Henry Purcell, age 54, Vidalia, died Sunday, November 10, 2002, at his residence following a brief illness.

The native and lifelong Toombs County resident was a retired superintendent with McDonald Construction and a member of South Thompson Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mollie Purcell, Vidalia; one son, Dudley Purcell, Vidalia; one daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Randall Johnson, Mt. Vernon; one stepdaughter and son-in-law, Rebekah and Bill James, Lyons; one stepson, Daniel Morgan, Vidalia; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Judy Purcell, Metter, five sisters, Janice Collins, Atlanta, Martha and Jerry Goesham, Newnan, Karen and Billy Clark, Ailey, Susan and Jerry Anderson, Vidalia, and Melinda and Joe Yates, Metter; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, November 13, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in South Thompson Baptist Church with the Reverend

Elouise Smith

Mrs. Elouise Parker Smith, Vidalia, died Saturday, October 26, 2002, in St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.

The Screven County native was a member of Grant Chapel C.M.E. Church in Vidalia were she served as president of the Usher Board.

Survivors include three sons, Milton Jack Smith, Rockaway, N.J., Alonzo Smith, Vista, Calif., and Chester Smith, Vidalia; one daughter, Lorance Johnson, Vidalia; one brother, Rev. H.W. Miller, Vidalia; one sister, Claudia Johnson, Vidalia; 21 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 2, 2002, at 12:00 p.m. in St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Vidalia with the Reverend H.W. Miller officiating. Interment followed in Eternal Glory Gardens in Vidalia.

James Taylor

Mr. James "Pebo" Taylor, age 58, Vidalia, died Saturday, November 9, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness.

The Montgomery County native had resided in Vidalia for the past 40 years. He was owner/operator of "Pebo" Taylor's Body Shop and was a charter member of Victory Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Taylor, Vidalia; two sons, Mike Taylor and Anthony Taylor, both of Vidalia; his mother, Mildred Taylor, Ailey; two brothers, Ray Taylor, Lyons, and Danny Taylor, Ailey; and two grandsons and their mother, Dusty Taylor, Ricky Taylor, and Christi Taylor, all of Vidalia.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, November 12, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with the Reverend Dr. William A. Berryhill and the Reverend Brian Powell officiating. Interment followed in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers were Delmas Brown, Wes Miller, Hope Achenbach, Brett McLain, Chris Dykes and Mark Nickel. Honorary pallbearers were James Hilton, Bobby Kirkland, Kenny Williamson, Kenneth Williamson, Robbie Hardiman, Ricky Odom, Don Powell, Pat Curry, W.L. Salter, Sr. and Wade O'Neal.

Sylvania Vaughn

Mrs. Sylvania "Doll" Vaughn, age 80, Lyons, died Friday, November 8, 2002, in Meadows Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

The Treutlen County native had resided most of her life in Toombs County. She was a homemaker and a member of Vidalia Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Carson Vaughn, Lyons; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Vaughn and Wyman Hammock, Statesboro; one sisters, Elmyra Brantley, Lyons; one brother, Eugene Davis, Folkston; two granddaughters; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, November 11, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Jones-Stewart Funeral Home of Lyons with the Reverend Michael Shelton officiating. Interment followed in Lyons City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Cannie Vaughn, Raymond Vaughn, Alan Groover, Byron Nelson, Billy Robertson and Buddy Sharp.

Flossie Walker

Mrs. Flossie Mae Walker, Ailey, died Friday, October 25, 2002, in East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro following an extended illness.

The Laurens County native was a member of the Senior Choir for over 60 years, serving many of those years as secretary.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Jean Walker, Vidalia, and Juliet Walker, Ailey; two sons, Alfred Walker and Odell Walker, both of Ailey; two sisters, Helen Young, Hollandale, Fla., and Penny Wiggins, Atlanta; two daughters-in-law, Catherine Walker and Sarah Walker, both of Ailey; one sister-in-law, Rincey Walker, Ailey; one brother-in-law, Velpo Young, Hollandale; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, November 1, 2002, at 1:00 p.m. in Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in McGregor with the Reverend Tim Chatman officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Gerald White

Mr. Gerald White, age 53, Soperton, died Tuesday, November 5, 2002, at his residence.

The Laurens County native was a son of the late Thomas and Atha Miller White. He was retired.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Sellers White; two sons, Phillip White, Vidalia, and Michael White, Soperton; one brother, Jimmy White, Soperton; and one grandson.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, November 8, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton with the Reverend June Scott and the Reverend Donny Crosby officiating. Interment followed in Westview Cemetery in Soperton.

Pallbearers were Wayne Hooks, Curtis Rogers, Jr., Jerry Redfern, Roger Phillips, Jr., Grady Cammack and Jason Brooks.
