Mrs. Daisy Brantley

Mrs. Daisy Davis Brantley, age 86, Vidalia, died Thursday, November 14, 2002, in Meadows Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

The Pulaski County native had resided in Vidalia for the past 55 years. She was retired owner of Brantley Department Store, a member of First Baptist Church of Vidalia and the Steadfast Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, T. Brooks Brantley, in 1994.

Survivors include on daughter, Judy B. Googe, Vidalia; one son, Wayne T. Brantley, Vidalia; one sister, Myrtle Yaun, Hazlehurst; six granddaughters; and two grandsons.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 16, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service of Vidalia with the Reverend Don Moye officiating. Interment followed in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers were Tom Brantley, Scott Freeman, Craig Stuckless, Ted Yaun, Don Yaun and Edwin Brantley, Honorary pallbearers were Kelly Stuckless, Allison Brantley, Helen Newland, Katie Googe, Kristin Googe, Rene Greeman and Elena Freeman.

Angel Faith Durden

Angel Faith Duren, infant daughter of Brian and Joni Durden, Lyons, died Saturday, November 9, 2002, in the Fairview Park Hospital of Dublin.

She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandfather Buck Guin and Paternal great-grandmother Pearl Duren.

Survivors, in addition to her partents, include maternal grandparents Ted and Joan Lyles, Lyons; paternal grandparents, Curtis and Betty Durden, Lyons; maternal great-grandmother, Melba Guin, Glenwood; maternal grandparents, Malcom and Catherine Lyles, Glenwood; and paternal grandfather, Bob Durden, Lyons.

Graveside services were conducted Thursday, November 14, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in the Glenwood City Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Gilbert and Elder Manning Temple officiating. Interment followed.

Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Services of Vidalia was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. George Flowers

Mr. George G. Flowers, age 66, Lyons, died Sunday, November 17, 2002, in University Hospital of Augusta following an extended illness.

The native and lifelong Toombs County resident was retired from Toombs County as a heavy equipment operator and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, barbara Burton Flowers, Lyons, two sons and daughters-in-law, Rocky and Renee Flowers, and Chris and Harriet Flowers, all of Lyons; one brother, Jim Paul Flowers, Lyons; four sisters, Dorothy Edwards, Barbara Copeland and Yvonne Clark, all of Lyons, and Juanita Copeland, Conyers; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, November 20, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Jones-Stewart Funeral Home in Lyons with the Reverend Jesse Browning and the Reverend Glen Russell officiating. Interment followed in Flowers Family Cemetery near Lyons.

Pallbearers were Bruce Herndon, Buddy Kight, Darel Corley, Kent Lloyd, Tim Adams and Bennie McLendon.

Mrs. Betty Hartley

Mrs. Betty Louise Harley, age 62, Georgetown, Ga., died Wednesday, November 13, 2002, in Lakeview Community Hospital following a brief illness.

The Phenix City, Ala., native was a daughter of the late Sam William Barr. She had resided in Gerogetown for the past 12 years, relocating there from Phenix City. She was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Smiths, Ala.

Survivors include her husband, Carlton Clements, Georgetown; her mother, Marie Louise Jernigan Barr, Columbus, Ga., one brother and sister-in-law, Sam A. and Joanne Barr, Vidalia; two stepsons, Sonny Clements, Florida, and Jimmy Ray Clements, Soperton; two stepdaughters, Karen Swenson, Glenwood, and Regina Lamp, Florida; and several stepgrandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, November 15, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in Kent Funeral Home in Eufaula, Ala., with the Reverend mark Hudson officiating. Additional services were conducted Saturday, November 16, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in Rosemont Baptist Church in Soperton. Interment followed in Rosemont Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Sara Smith

Mrs. Sara Milligan Smith, age 77, Vidalia, died Sunday, November 17, 2002, in Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia following an extended illness.

She was a native of Montgomery County, living her lifetime in the area. She was retired from Oxford Manufacturing Company with 35 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia and the Steadfast Sunday School Class.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sibley and Jim Meadows, Vidalia; one graddaughter and grandson-in-law, Bronwyn and Philip Williams, Vidalia; one gradnson and grand daughter-in-law, Lane and Jennifer Meadows, Augusta; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Branch, Hazlehurst, Bernese Callahan, Lakeland, Florida, and Frances Witt, Kibbee; and seven brothers, Aubrey Milligan, Charleton, South Carolina, J.O. Milligan, Jr., Tallahassee, Florida, Rufus Milligan, Callahan, Florida, Billy Milligan, Cedar Crossing, Paul Milligan, Jacksonville, Florida, Mayo Milligan, Lakeland, and Donald Milligan, West Palm Beach, Florida.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, November 19, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with the Reverend Don Moye officiating. Interment followed in Pincrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ronald Milligan, Tim Milligan, Harold Milligan, Greg Milligan, Barry Murray and Robert Pierce.
