Mrs. Alma G. Taylor Book, age 88, Columbus, died Sunday, October 6, 2002.
the Montgomery County native was a homemaker and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jessie Wilmer Taylor and Louie Book; one son; one granddaughter; six brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Sara Love, Columbus; one son, Vernard Taylor, Vidalia; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, October9, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with the Reverend Lynn McManious officating. Interment followed in South Thompson Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mel Lamb, Joey Lamb, Zack Lamb, Tony Taylor, Shane Taylor and Phillip Eldridge.

Mrs. Bonnie Rae Braddock, age 80, Bethany Home Nursing Center, died Tuesday, October 8, 2002, in Meadows Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
The Toombs County native had resided in Reidsville for 20 years before returning to Lyons one year ago. She was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Reidsville.
Survivors include three sons, Gilbert Braddock, Dublin, and Lawson Braddock and Harry Braddock, both of Lyons; one daughter, Faye Harvey, Reidsville; one sister, Wilma Harden, Lyons; one brother, Earl Osborne, Vidalia; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and newphews.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, October 11, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Jones-Stewart Funeral Home of Lyons with the Reverend Kenny Edwards and the Reverend Bruce Conner officiating. Interment followed in the South Thompson Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry Stephens, Gary George, Buddy Mosley, Randy Mosley, Greg Brinson, Jackie Amerson and Kenny Colson.

Mrs. L. Inez Thompson Braswell, age 85, Savannah, died Thursday, October 10, 2002, in Candler Hospital.
The Toombs County native relocated to Savannah from Bulloch County in 1949. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Temple where she was a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Earl Braswell.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Gary D. and Linda Braswell, Savannah; one daughter and son-on-law, M. Jeanine and Bert Jacobs, Macon; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, October 14, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home-Hodgson Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Derward Poole officiating. Interment followed at 3:00 p.m. in Lyons City Cemetery.

Mr. John T. Bridges, age 92, Soperton, died Tuesday, Ocotber 8, 2002, in Treutlen Nursing Home.
The Wheeler County native was a son of the late George and Sula Blanton Bridges. He was a retired farmer and of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Gunter Bridges; two sons, Aaron Bridges and Randy Bridges, both of Soperton; four daughers, Barbara Davis, Kibbee, and Bonita Lamb, Glenda Manning and Betty McCoy, all of Soperton; two sisters, Emily Boatright, Dublin, and Hattie Conner, Lake Alfred, Fla.; two brothers, Curtis Bridges, Winter Haven, Fla., and J.A. Bridges, Lawrenceville, Ga.; 14 grand-children; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, October 11, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Sammons Funeral Home of Soperton with the Reverend Arthur Connelly and the Reverend Owen Waters officating. Interment followed in Waters Cemetery in Emanuel County.

Mrs. Sandra Jean Caraway, age 58, Vidalia, died Tuesday, October 8, 2002, in lege of Georgia in Augusta, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
The Gainesville, Fla., native had resided in Vidalia for the past 29 years. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Caraway, Vidalia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene Caraway and Andy Peavey, Vidalia, and Vickie Caraway and Anthony Conrad, Lyons; one daughter, Zelda Williamson, Lyons; one sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Chesley Daughtery, Morgantown, Ky.; and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Mildred Mary Weiss Christianson, age 81, St. Simons Island, died Friday, October 11, 2002, at her residence.
The Rathway, N.J., native was a former resident of Raleigh, N.C., and had resided on St. Simons Island for about one year, relocatingthere from Vidalia. She was a charter member of First United Methodist Church of Vidalia.
Survivors include her husband, Art (Bill) Christianson, St. Simons Island; one daugher and son-in-law, Patricia and Bill Bailey, Raleigh, N.C.; one son and daughter-in-law, Art and Joyce Christianson, St. Simons Iland, one brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Lois Weiss, Waretown, J.J.; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services were conducted Monday, October 14, 2002, at 1:00 p.m. in First United Methodist Church of Vidalia with the Reverend William Blalock officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Pink Ladies of Meadows Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Lois Youmans Crumpton, age 73, Hazlehurst, died Wednesday, October 2, 2002, at her residence.
The native and lifelong Jeff Davis County resident was the daughter of the late Green and Susie Cobb Youmans. She was a retired clerk formely employed with Hazlehurst Mills, and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, A.R. Crumpton,Hazlehurst; one son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Bernadine White, Lyons; two stepsons and one stepdaughter-in-law, Richard and Dianne Crumpton, Hazlehurst, and Keith Crumpton, Hazlehurst; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Carolyn and Donnie Lance, Hazlehurst; seven sisters, Ruby Beall, Jewell Roberts, Murrell Smith, Katha Sue Hayes, Nettie Mae Overstreet and Margaret Foskey, all of Hazlehurst, and Lucille Simpson, Uvalda; one brother, Green Youmans, Hazlehurst; one granddaughter; and six stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, October 4, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in Southside Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Ben Glosson and the Reverend Alton Carter officiating. Interment followed in Satilla Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. James L. Joyner, age 44, Lyons, died Friday, October 11, 2002, in Vidalia following a brief illenss.
The Hawaii native had resided in Lyons most of his life. He was a carpenter and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his mother and father, Talmadge and Evelyn Joyner, Lyons; two brothers, Thomas Joyner, Lyons, and Robert Joyner, Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Wanda Bryant and Linda Joyner, both of Vidalia; two grandparents, Dochia Beck, Lyons, and Clara Turner, Vidalia; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. George Everett Odom, Jr., age 43, Mt. Vernon, died Saturday, October 12, 2002, in Meadows Regional Medical Center following a long illness.
The Wheeler County native had resided in Mt. Vernon most of his life. He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of Mt. Vernon Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Odom, Mt. Vernon; two sons, Timothy Odom and Michael Moore, both of Mt. Vernon; seven sisters, Evelyn Clark and Angela Walker, both of Mt. Vernon, Marie Walker and Mary Moore, both of Glenwood, and Hazel Whited, Lynn Gilland and Myrtle Phillips, all of Vidalia; two brother, Bo Payton, Mt. Vernon, and Ray Smith, Ocala, Fla.; one special friend, Charles Lloyd; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Margaret Elaine Melton Poole, age 58, Vidalia, died Wednesday, October 9, 2002, at her residence following an extended illness.
The Charleston, S.C., native relocated to Vidalia 35 years ago. She was a store manager of Shine's convenience store, a member of the Daughters of the Nile, and was a member of Cedar Crossing Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Gayle P. and Chess Moxley, Vidalia; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Stephanie Poole, Vidalia; John and Audrea Poole, Forsyth, and Frank Poole, Vidalia; two sisters, Martha Thaggard and Dorothy Puckett, both of Savannah; and nine grandchildren.

Mr. Wiliam B. Shaw III, age 42, Pooler, died Sunday, October 13, 2002, in Hospice Savannah.
The North Carolina native was a member of Holy Angles Episcopal Church in Pooler. He was a Lay Minister in the Episcopal Church and was a former member of the Vestry.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Peggy and Bob Cousins, Bloomingdale; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Teresa Strickland, Pooler, Lynn and Wayne Guyer, Vidalia, and Harriet and Ashley Page, Swainsboro; two nieces; one nephew; a friend, James Harvey, Pooler; two stepbrothers, William Cousins and Greg Cousins; one stepsister, Jennifer Weeden; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. James R. Solie, age 48, Soperton, died Sunday, October 13, 2002.
The Seattle, Washington, native was a son of the late Harold Solie. He was retired from Georgia Power Co., and was currently employed with Graham Construction Company in East Dublin.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa McLendon Solie; one son, Brandon Solie, Soperton; his mother, Marie Edge, Vidalia; his stepfather, Rhodus Edge, Jr., Lyons; one brother, Gerald Solie, Vidalia; three stepbrothers, Dan Edge, Soperton, and Ricky Edge and Billy Edge, both of Lyons.

Mr. Joseph "Joe" Richard Wade, age 49, Leesburg, Ga., died Tuesday, October 8, 2002.
The Jacksonville, Fla., native grew up on Folkston, Ga., and graduated from Clinch County High School. He received a degree in criminal justice from Georgia Southern College and was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was previously employed with Phillip Morris for 21 years. He was presently co-owner of Forest Site Prep Company in Union Springs, Ala., and Ideal Marina in Steinhatchee, Fla. He also served on the board of N.G. Wade Investment Company in Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Sikes Wade.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Wade, Leesburg; one son, Joseph Richard Wade, Jr., Valdosta; one daughter, Mary Kristin Wade, Valdosta; his father, N.G. Wade III, Folkston; three brothers, Neill Wade IV, Tallahassee, Fla., Walter Wade, Christiansburg, Va., and Tony Wade, Folkston; one sister, Mia Wade, Folkston; and several nieces and nephews.
