Rev. Jack Thomas Alderman, Sr. age 72, Cobb, Georgia died Friday, December 26, 2003, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center.
He was a native of Colquitt County. He was a member of the medical corps of the U.S. Army. He was a retired Southen Baptist minister. He was preceded in death by his parents, D.H. Alderman and Georgia Livingston Alderman.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eunice Meadows Alderman, Cobb; one daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Rev. Roger Chilen, Winston-Salem, N.C.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Tom Alderman and Sandi Alderman, Statesboro, and Rev. Reg Alderman and Lisa Alderman, Bowling Green, Kentucky; one brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Ellen Alderman, Moultrie; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and newphews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 28, 2003, at 3:30 p.m. in the Salem Baptist Church near Sylvester with Rev. Don Driskill, Rev. Bill Rathbun and Rev. Jerry Vaughn officiating, Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in the name of Rev. Alderman to the Ministers Emergency Fund, Georgia Baptist Convention, 2930 Flowers Road South, Atlanta, Georgia 30341-5562.

Mr. Gary Lee Davis, age 58, Greenville, Kentucky, died Thursday, December 18, 2003, at his residence after a sudden illness.
He was a native of Vidalia. He practiced law in Gwinett County where he served as an assistant district attorney and later was elected and served as solicitor. He also worked for the oil and gas industry. He helped found Diamond Communications. He was a member of Lead Hill United Methodist Church in Weir, Kentucky. He was prceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. T.R. Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Cary Davis, Greenville, Kentucky; one son, Cary Davis, Greenville; two daughters, Gretchen Davis Cox, Portland, Tenn., and Tracy Davis, Wells, Toronto, Candada; eith grandchildren; and one sister, Lorraine Davis McDilda, Vidalia.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 21, 2003. Interment followed in the Lone Star Cemetery.

Mr. Herbert Holland, age 53, Lyons, died Wednesday, December 24, 2003, in the Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia after a sudden illness.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Toombs County. He was retired from C.S.X. Railroad and was Methodist by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Lavon Holland, Lyons; three sons and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Marsha Humphrey, Collins, James Humphrey, Waycross, Blake Holland, Lyons; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Robert Moore, Cobbtown; his father, Frank Holland, Lyons; two brothers, Charles and Jerry Holland, both of Lyons; one sister, Marie Alt, McMinnville, Tennessee; four grandchildren; one nephew; and two nieces.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 27, 2003, at 4:00 p.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. Rick Wilson officiating. Interment followed in the S.H. Findley Cemetery near Oak Park. Pallbearers were Rodney Edenfield, Colin Kight, Marvin Alt, Dean Curl, Richard Higgs and Buddy Collins.

Mrs. Marie Hollingsworth, Higgston, died Monday, December 22, 2003, at her residence.
She was a native of Wheeler County. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her children, Evelyn Wright, St. Petersburg, Florida, Bertha Woods and Phillis Hollingsworth, both of Vidalia, Loretta Rice, Atlanta, Charles Woods, New York, and Randy Hollingsworth, Atlanta; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Williams and Solona Phillips, both of Glenwood; one brother, Gipson Williams, Glenwood; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 27, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. in the First African Baptist Church of Vidalia with Rev. Newburn Phillips officiating. Interment followed in the Stuckey Cemetery, Glenwood.

Mr. Jarvis King, age 55, Anderson, S.C., died December 19, 2003, at his residence.
He was n native of Vidalia. He was a distributor for Little Debbie for 15 years. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a member of the Abundant Life Sunday School class.
Survivors include his wife, Gail King, Anderson; one son, Eric King, Anderson; one daughter, Angela Bolt, Columbia; parents, Milray King and Vera King, both of Vidalia; one brother, Travis King, Vidalia; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, December 22, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the New Prospect Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Turner and Rev. Bobby Watson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery, Anderson.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, S.C. 29621.

Mr. Terry NeeSmith, Sr., age 58, Vidalia, died Friday, December 19, 2003, in the Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia after a brief illness.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Toombs County. He was a retired boilermaker and a member of Local #199. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Reneé H. Still.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia S. NeeSmith, Vidalia; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry D. NeeSmith, Jr., and Dianne, Vidalia; one daughter, Laura A. Brown, Vidalia; two brothers, Kermit R. NeeSmith, Hinesville, and D.D. NeeSmith, Lyons; two grandsons, Caleb McRae Still and H. Bennett Moore, both of Vidalia; one granddaughter, Mallory Eden Still, Vidalia; one son-in-law, Dr. Odell P. Still, Vidalia; and three special grandchildren, Hunter L. Rollins, Lyons, Madisyn Rakes and makenna Rakes, both of Vidalia.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 21, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the Tabernacle Baptist Church of Vidalia with pastor, Rev. Murray Ward officiating. Interment followed in the family mausoleum at Pinecrest Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Bobby Brigman, John Sanders, Paul Gore, Gary Rakes, Bobby James and Terry Edmunds. Honorary pallbearers were Shuman Adams, Billy Hooker, Paul Thigpen, Bob DeJarnette and Todd Bingaman.

Mrs. Laura E. Phillips, age 80, Palatka, Florida, died Sunday, December 21, 2003, at Putnam Community Medical Center after an extended illness.

Mrs. Mavis Edwards Stephens, age 78, Vidalia, died Saturday, December 27, 2003, in the Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia after a brief illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Toombs County. She was a retired seamstress and a homemaker and attended the First Assembly of God Church in Vidalia.
Survivors include four daughters, Jessie Nell Edenfield, Metter, Mary Edge, Wrightsville, Sandra Williams, Lyons, and Joyce Banks, Augusta; six sons, J.E. Edwards, Vidalia, Eugene Edwards, Metter, Jimmy Lee Edwards, Vidalia, Jackie Edwards, Baxley, and Johnny Edwards, Lyons; two sisters, Grace Heath, Dublin, and Emma Lee Holland, Hawkinsville; two brothers, George Holland, Hawkinsville, and J.W. Lowe, Columbia, S.C.; and several grandchildren, great-granchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 31, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. David Edenfield, Rev. David Knight, and Rev. Jimmy Edge officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Moriah Methodist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jeff Edwards, James Edwards, Terry Edwards, Chris Edwards, Jimmy Edge and Ben Sanders. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Carter, Shelby Glesson, Hubert Sowell, Gary Dismuke, Bobby Connell and Chris Ryals.

Mrs. Melva R. Westberry, age 94, died Thursday, December 25, 2003, in the Bethany Nursing Center of Vidalia after an extended illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Florida. She was a homemaker and Methodist by faith. She is prceded in death by her husband, Eddie C. Westberry and one daughter, Bobbie L. Whitener.
Survivors include one daughter, Ineze "Penny" Shaw, Vidalia; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and serveral nieces and newphews.
Graveside services were conducted Saturday, December 27, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in Pineview Cemetery in Folkston with Rev. B.E. Hannah officiating. Interment followed.

Mr. Samuel Miller Willis, Jr., age 87, Uvalda, died Thursday, December 25, 2003, in the Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia after a brief illness.
He was a native of Toombs County, living most of his life in Maitland, Florida, and later residing in Uvalda. He was a retired truck driver, a veteran of the United States Army and was of the christian faith.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Denmark Willis, Uvalda; one daughter, Sammie Willis Stewart and Roy Powell, Uvalda; three brothers, Rev. Eldridge "Skee" Willis, Brunswick, Gene Willis and Ivy Willis, both of Cedar Crossing; three sisters, Cassie Turner, Virginia Willis and Katrina Willis, all of Cedar Crossing; two grandson, Jeremy Husted and wife Shannon, Uvalda, and Kyle Stewart, Lyons; four granddaughters, Chasity Davis and husband Joe, Sammie Jo Herndon and husband Robert, all of Lyons, Cassandra Stewart and Shaunteia Stewart, both of Uvalda; five great-granddaughters, Dakota Husted, Summer, Autumn and Winter Powell, all of Uvalda, and Melodie Herndon, Lyons; and one great-grandson, Nathan Dykes, Lyons.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 27, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. Ricky McCarty and Rev. Eldridge Willis officiating. Interment followed in the Cedar Crossing Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Glen Willis, Alan Willis, Dale Kight, Dennis Hale, Melvin Denmark, P. Paul Norfleet and John Hayes. Honorary pallbearers were Benny Sanders, George H. Davis, Ernest Ford, J.W. Beasley, Don Currie, Harold Geiger, Billy Milligan and John Denmark.
