Mrs. Jane May Brooker, age 71, Sandersville, died Monday January 6, 2003, in the Medical College of Geogia following a brief illness.
Mrs. Brooker was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Orlando Jewell May and the late Ruth Hutchinson May. She was a retired office manager and vital records custodian for the Washington County Department of Health and a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sandersville.
Survivors include her husband, John Wesley "Jack" Brooker, Sandersville; children: John McLaurin Brooker and Phoebe Brooker Kennedy, both of Sandersville, and David Hutchinson Brooker, Tennille; six grandchildren: John McLaurin Brooker, Jr., Michael Wesley Brooker, Christian Reed Daniels, McLaurin Wesley Kennedy, Caleb Hutchinson Brooker, and Kathleen May Brooker; two great-grandchildren, Bo Wesley Brooker and Jackson Marshall Brooker; two sisters, Ruth May Holland, Charlotte, N.C., and Rose May Ledford, Vidalia; and one brother, Harry Thomas May, Social Circle.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, January 8, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with Reverend Larry Giles and Reverend Jim Wagner officiating. Interment followed in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville.
Pallbearers were William F. Ledford, Jr., Vidalia; Max W. Holland, Jr., Charlotte; Michael H. Holland Jr., Charlotte; Michael H. Holland, Charlotte; A. Kipling Holland, Charlotte; Joseph M. Holland, Charlotte; William B. Phillips, Sr., Sandersville; Michael J. Martin, Sandersville; and Randy Mayberry, Sandersville.
May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville were in charge of the arrangments.
The family suggest that donations be made to the American Heart Association of the American Kidney Foundation.

Mrs. Ethlyn Goodwin Brown, age 89, Lyons, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003, in Bethany Home Nursing Center of Vidalia.
The Greene County, Ga., native relocated to Lyons in 1938. She was a homeaker, a member of Lyons First Baptist Church, and a gormer member of the Lyons Garden Glub.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Susan B. and Larry Threlkeld, Vidalia, and Sandra B. Connell, Alexandria, Va.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, January 10, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in Lyons First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dannie Williams and Father Ron Routherland officiating. Interment followed in Lyons City Cemtery.
Memorials my be made to Lyons First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 627, Lyons, GA 30436; or Bethany Home Nursing Center, P.O Box 668, Vidalia, GA 30475.
Pallbearers were Robert Brown, Ray Brown, Billy Griffin, Jack Jackson, David Kopp and Max Manry.

Mrs. Quinell G. Derriso, age 71, Glenwood, died Monday, January 6, 2003.
The daughter of the late Walter H. and Lavada Clyde Day Gillis was a retired practical nurse. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Wheeler County.
Survivors include her husband, David A. Derriso; two sons, Doyce Derriso, Glenwood, and Royce Derriso, Dublin; on sister, Alice G. Wright, Danville; three brothers, Emmitt Gillis and Jade Gillis, both of Glenwood, and Grady Gillis, Macon; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, January 9, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in Beulah Baptist Church with the Reverend Burien Smith and the Reverend Calvin Durrence officiating. Interment followed in Swainsboro City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Tony Derriso, Dale Derriso, Jerry Powell, Joshua Derriso, Donnie Wright and Berry Gillis. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Women's Adult Sunday School Class of Beulah Baptist Church.

Mr. Donald P. Gillis, age 83, Glenwood, died Sunday, January 12, 2003, at his residence folowing an extended illness.
The native and lifelong Wheeler County resident was a retired road superintendent for Wheeler County and was a veteran of World War II. He attended Landsburg Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dot Gillis, Glenwood; one stepson, Bobby McDaniel, Glenwood; one stepdaughter, Kim Stevens, Glenwood; two brothers, Clark Gillis and Charles "Buck" Gillis, both of Glenwood; one sister, Mabel Fuqua, Jackson, Ga.; and four stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 14, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Glenwood Chpel with the Reverend John Clements and the Reverend Jimmy Gilbert officiating. Interment followed in Glenwood City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jimmy Gillis, Brain McDaniel, Brett McDaniel, Eddie Stevens, Billy Crider and Rusty Mobley. Honorary pallbearers were Arthur Joiner, Gerald Avery, Vivian Joyce, Arlin Goss, Windsor Johnson, Rodney Johnson, Michel Chambers, Sr., Jacob Clark and Thomas Mercer.

Mr. Junior Googe, age 75, Lyons, died Thursday, January 9, 2003, at his residence following a brief illness.
The Morehead City, N.C., native had resided in Lyons for the past 20 years. He was retired from the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was presently employed with Jumping Jacks of Lyons.
Survivors include his wife, Paticia Lariscey Googe, Lyons; one son, Roger Googe, Marshalburg, N.C.; one daughter, Terri Googe, Atlantic City, N.J.; and several grandchildren.

Mrs. Opal Hart Hall, age 73, Placentia, California, died Monday, January 6, 2003, following a sudden illness.
The native of Johnson Corner (Toombs County) had resided in Gastonia, N.C., from 1946 until 1982, when she relocated to Placentia. She was a retired retail/textile employee and was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include her husband of 20 years, Bill Hall, Placentia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Linda Lunsford, Clover, S.C., and Steven and Emma Lunsford, Placentia; one brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Frances Hart, Vidalia; and one grandson.
Graveside services were conducted Sunday, January 12, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in Lakeview Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Maxwell Rollins officating. Interment followed.

Mrs. Audrey Mae Duke Harn, age 90, Vidalia, died Saturday, January 11, 2003, in Toombs Nursing Home of Lyons following an extended illness.
The Telfair County native had resided in Vidalia since 1945. She retired from Globe Manufacturing with 20 years of service and worked in babysitting until 1992. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Vidalia, and was preceded in death by her husband, Aulton H. Harn, in 1987.
Survivors include six nieces, Janice Dowdy, Vidalia, Jackie Watson, Davenport, Fla., Bonnie Lattimer, Clearwater, Fla., Joan Turner, Fayetteville, Dot Hindman Peacock, San Antonio, Texas, and Nell Jenkins, Carrollton; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 14, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia with the Reverend Bonnie Lattimer officiating in Pinecrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gary Dowdy, Michael Dowdy, Gregory Dowdy, Joseph Waston, Charles Lattimer and Wiley Turner.

Mrs. Rosalyn Galbreath Manning, age 91, Vidalia, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003, in Meadows Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
The Montgomery County native had resided most of her life in the area. She was a homemaker and a member of Alston United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Manning, and one son, Roderick E. Manning.
Survivors include two daughters, Maudalyn Manning, Vidalia, and Vivian M. Jefferson, Columbia, S.C.; five sons, Chandos Manning and Carl Manning, both of Vidalia, William D. Manning, Charleston, S.C., Harold D. Manning, Douglas, and Windell W. Manning Sr., Tifton; three sisters, Helen Brannon, Gautier, Mississippi, mary Masse, Clemson, S.C., and Frankie Rhea, Charleston, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 11, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia with the Reverend Daivd Aycock officiating. Intemrnet followed in Galbreath Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Paul Jefferson, Mark Jefferson, Chris Jefferson, Brian Manning, Wade Manning, Clint Manning and Marshall Manning.

Mr. Earl W. McBride, age 57, Milledgeville, died Monday, January 6, 2003, in Newton County Hospital of Covington, Ga., following a brief illness.
The Tattnall County native had resided most of his life in Milledgeville, and in Griffin for the past 10 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Milledgeville.
Survivors include two brothers, Walter T. McBride, Charlotte, N.C., and William H. McBride, Peachtree City; one sister, Catherine M. Smith, Raleigh, N.C.; and serveral nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were conducted Friday, January 10, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in Pinecrest Cemetery in Vidalia with the Reverend Grady Walden officiating. Interment followed.

Miss Jennifer Annette Miller, age 22, Lyons, died saturday, January 11, 2003, in Bethany Home Nursing Center of Vidalia following an extended illness.
The Fort Myers, Fla., native had resided most of her life in Lyons, She was of the Baptist faith, and was preceded in death by her grandfather, Braxton Miller, in 2000.
Survivors include her father and stepmother, Roy and Rebecca Miller, Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Aaron Miller, Fort Bliss, Texas; her paternal grandmother, Faye Miller, lyons; her paternal great-grandmother, Evelyn Braidfoot, Fort Myers; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and a special cousin, Annette Griffin, Fort Myers.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 14, 2003, at 2:30 p.m. in Cobbs Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Don Hughes officiating. Interment followed on family property.
Pallbearers were Jimmie Rex Sanders, David Dwayne Jenkins, Ronnie Fields, Donald Brantley, Tracy Woodard and Glen McClendon.

Miss Emilee "Yanci" Nipper, age 3, Alma, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003, at her residence.
She was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandparents, Frank and Dorothy Nipper, and maternal great-grandparents, W.G. (Geechie) and Louise Winslette and Newman and Lucille Brantley.
Survivors include her mother and father, James Tony Nipper and Sonya Brantley Nipper, both of Alma; half sister, Halle Browning; half brother, Steele Brantley; one step-brother, James Hardwick, all of Alma; paternal grandparents, James and Judy Nipper, Alma, maternal grandparents, Rickey and Dianne Wooten, Vidalia; paternal great-grandparents, J.L. and Geraldine Tanner, Alma; aunts and uncles, Ken and Trish Nipper, Alma; Mark and Amy Nipper, Alma, Tina Nipper, Waycross; and Kirby and Angela Brantley, Vidalia; and several cousins.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, January 10, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Community Church with Rev. George Moxley, Rev. Dale Carver, Rev. Pet Hayes and Rev. Mark Carver officiating. Interment followed in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Perry Starling, James Hardwick, Ross Purvis and Tammy Reddish. Honorary pallbearers were Scott Chestnut, Greg Thomas, Rodney teese, Willie McLaughlin, Mike McClelland and Mike Harper.
