Mrs. Willie Myrtle Findley

Mrs. Willie Myrtle Findley, age 89, Vidalia, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at the Bethany Home Nursing Center after an extended illness.

She was a native of Emanuel County, also living in Burke County, and then moving to Vidalia. She was a retired seamstress, a member of the Smith Street Baptist Church and the Lyons Senior Citizens Club.

Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Sue Meeks Brown, Kennesaw; one son, Noel Carlton Meeks, Sr., Waynesboro; three sisters, Lois Howell, Lyons, Frances Parkerson, Eastman, and Oretha Watson, Gordon; one brother, Leon Findley, Lyons; several grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, July 11, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Rev. Irvin Murphy officiating. Interment followed in the Lyons City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mark, Terry and Billy Findley, Clyde Mosley, Shine Collins and Arthur Brinson.

Mr. Roy Burton Obituary

Mr. Roy Burton, age 67, Lyons, Cedar Crossing Community, died Monday, July 7, 2003, at his residence after a sudden illness.

He was a native of Treutlen County living most of his life in Lyons. He was a retired farmer and Church of God by faith.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey Kessey Burton, Cedar Crossing; four sons, Ronnie Burton, Lyons, Sylvester Kersey, Vidalia, and Thomas Burton, Chesapeake, Va.; one daughter, Grace Phillips, Uvalda; one brother, Ray Burton, Darien; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, July 10, 2003, at 5:00 p.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. Jerry Newell, Rev. Junior Rowe and Rev. Bobby Toole officiating. Interment followed in the Cedar Crossing Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Benji Burton, Jessie Phillips, Joseph Barten, Thomas Burton, Fate Carrol and Herbert Burton.

Mr. James Elmer Campbell Obituary

Mr. James Elmer Campbell, age 82, Vidalia, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at his residence after an extended illness.

He was a native of Dodge County living most of his life in the Vidalia area. He was a retired truck driver with Piggly-wiggly with 36 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II ans was a membe of Ruth's Chapel United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by one son, James Larry Campbell.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Campbell, Vidalia; three sons, John A. Campbell, Sr., Jackie G. Campbell and wife, Martha, and jerry A. Campbell, all of Vidalia; two sisters, Millie McDonald, Vidalia, and Ann Puryear, Reidsville; one brother, John Clifford Campbell, Milledgeville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 14, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Rev. Kathy Israel McLeod and Rev. Evelyn Duvall officiating. Interment followed in Ruth's Chapel Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Greg Morris, William Willis, Chad Lamb, Joey Prescott, A.C. Edenfield andCharles Collins. Honorary pallbearers were former Piggly-Wiggly Southern Truck drives.

Mrs. Liza Mae Dixon Faircloth Obituary

Mrs. Liza Mae Dixon Faircloth, age 89, Lyons, died Friday, July 11, 2003, in the Bethany Home Nursing Center of Vidalia after an extended illness.

She was a native of Montgomery County living most of her life in Toombs County. She was a homemaker and a member of English Eddy Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Scott Faircloth.

Survivors include one son, David S. Faircloth and wife, Margaret, McDonough; stepmother, Laura Mae Conley Dixon, Lyons; two sisters, Laverne Wilson, Savannah, and Sue Ann Dixon, Lyons; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were conducted Sunday, July 13, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Rev. David Aycock officiating.

Pallbearers were J.C., Danny and Frederick Dixon and Nelson Brinson.

Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Rosa Mae Jackson Obituary

Mrs. Rosa Mae Jackson, Mt. Vernon, died Saturday, June 28, 2003, in the Wheeler County Hospital.

She was a native of Fulton County.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie Lee Jackson, Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Willie Mae Wilson and Catherine (Carolyn) Ford, both of Mt. Vernon; one son, Ronnie Snead, Atlanta; three sisters, Iola Wilson, Detroit, Mi., Selena Johnson, Vidalia, and Sarah Jackson, Glenwood; one son-in-law, John Henry Ford, Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren, Kawmima Travis, Courtney Betts, Ronnie Wilson, Marquise C. Wilson and Ronnie Snead; nine great-grandchildren; seven nieces; and 3 nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in the First African Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon with Rev. Dr. Fred Carter officiating. Interment followed in the McRae Cemetery, Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Jerry Lamar Kennedy, Sr. Obituary

Mr. Jerry Lamar Kennedy, Sr., Lyons died Friday, July 4, 2003, in the Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia.

He was a native of Sarasota, Florida. He was a chef at the Vidalia Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mekita Kennedy, Lyons; four sons, Alphonso Phillips, Reidsville, Altonio Phillips, Jerry Kennedy, Jr. and Christopher Kennedy, all of Vidalia; two daughters, Crystal Kennedy, Vidalia, and Niesha Thomas, Lyons; two brothers, Perry Kennedy, Alamo, and Michael Lawton, Vidalia; two sisters, Lisa Thomas and Cynthia Hall both of Vidalia; his mother, Eunice Lawton, Vidalia; one stepsister, Deborah Davis; mother-in-law, Annie Lois Thomas; father-in-law, Cleveland Davis; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, July 10, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the Tree of Life Church of God in Christ Church, Lyons, with pastor James Bynes officiating. Interment followed in the Macon Cemetery, Lyons.

Mrs. Nadine Parrish Obituary

Mrs. Nadine Parrish, age 67, Lyons, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at her residence after an extended illness.

She was a native of Montgomery County, had resided in Florida for several years later moving back to Lyons. She was retired from Toyota Company and was a member of the Peoples Full Gospel Church of Lyons.

Survivors include one daughter, Phoebe Singley, Vidalia; one son, Larry Newsome, Lyons; four brothers, J.D. Parrish, Monroe, Louisiana, Robert Parrish, Lyons, James and Clarence Parrish, both of Vidalia; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, July 10, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. Hilda O’Neal and Rev. Wauthine Stewart officiating. Interment followed in the Tarrytown City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dale Stallings, Timmy Christopher, Harold Haynes, Colt Smith, Jamie Braddock, Travis Parrish and Garrett McDaniel.

Mrs. Frances (Frankie) Virgil Mallard Saba Obituary

Mrs. Frances (Frankie) Virgil Mallard Saba, age 94, died Monday, July 7, 2003, in the Bethany Home in Vidalia.

She was a Screven County native. She later moved to Vidalia to live with her daughter. She was former owner and operator of the Seacoast Motel in Savannah. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Savannah. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Lela Hodges mallard, her husband, George Saba and one daughter, Miriam Hall.

Survivors include two daughters and three sons-in-law, Martha and Rev. Buddy Morris, Statesboro, Shelly and Tim Smith, Vidalia, and Vondall Hall, Dearing; two granddaughters, Kim Cheely, Dearing and Tiffany Smith, Vidalia; one grandson, Dee Hall, Laurenceville; two great-grandchildren, Whitney Hall, Atlanta, and Lance Cheely, Dearing.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the Statesboro Free Will Baptist Church. Interment followed in the Bullock Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Charles Hodges, Paul Leeder, Kerry Mallard, Donnie Mallard, Ricky Seckinger and Craigh Speinhaus.

Mrs. Mary Lou Bowie Thompson Obituary

Mrs. Mary Lou Bowie Thompson, age 107, Mt. Vernon, died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at her residence.

She was a native of Abbeville, S.C. She taught in the North Carolina school system and Montgomery County school system until she retired. She was a member of the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Mundy Bowie, her husband, Laurence N. Thompson, Sr., and three sons, L.N. "Tommy" Thompson, Jr., R.T. "Bob" Thompson, and W.N. "Bill" Thompson.

Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth T. "Libby" Bibb, Mount Vernon; 13 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Thompson and Rev. Nita Krump Howard officiating. Interment followed in the Thompson Family Cemetery, Mt. Vernon.

Pallbearers were Larry Thompson, Bobby Thompson, Jimmy Thompson, Jeff Thompson, Bert Thompson and Nordeck Thompson.

Mrs. Carol A. Wilkes Obituary

Mrs. Carol A. Wilkes, age 56, Baxley, died Monday, July 7, 2003, at her residence.

She was a native of Boston, Massachusetts had lived in Appling County for the past 28 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was employed by Trane Air Conditioning Company.

Survivors include her husband, Charles A. Wilkes, Baxley, one daughter and son-in-law, Charlene Marie and Dr. Thomas J. Ferrari, Vidalia; one son, Robert Allen Wilkes, Charleston, South Carolina; one sister, Sandra DeMarzio, Auburn, New York; four brothers, Dicky Peterson, all of Boston; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, July 10, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Mark J. Ross officiating.

Active pallbearers were Bobby Peterson, Harry Peterson, Collie Wilkes and Dale Spell.
