Mr. Jacky D. Amerson, age 53, Lyons, died Saturday, June 14, 2003, in the Fairview Park Hospital of Dublin of injuries received in an auto accident in Laurens County.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Lyons. He was retired from C.S.X. Railroad, served six years in the U.S. Army and was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include two nephews, Carter Amerson, Guyton, and Benson King, Pooler; and three nieces, Tammy and Leah King, both of Pooler and Shelby Amerson, Guyton.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at 10:00 in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. Jessie Browning officiating. Intement followed in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Lockley, Kenny Williamson, Harry Braddock, Don Lowery, Kenny Colson and Kendall Palmer.

Mr. Roy Melvin Claxton, age 60, Uvalda, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, in the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center of Dublin after an extended illness.
He was a native of Toombs County and resided most of his life in Toombs and Montgomery counties, He was a retired carpenter. He was an active ROTC, was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was Church of God by faith. He was preceded in death by his father, C.B. Claxton and one brother, Tommy Claxton.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Claxton, Uvalda; three step-daughters, Sue Ellen Sharpe, Uvalda, Debbie Fowler and Elaine Conner, both of Reidsville; his mother, Emma Lou Claxton, Uvalda; one brother, Ottis Claxton, Savannah; one sister, Luann Yawn, Ellabell; and four step-grandchildren, Bruce Conner, Charles Conner, Chris Conner and Rudy Fowler, all of Reidsville.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. Bobby Toole officiating. Interment followed in the Uvalda City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Sammy Miller, Ronnie Adams, Lance Miller, Ray NeeSmith, Bruce Johnson and Larry Dickerson.

Mr. John C. "J.C." Jeffers, Jr., age 74, Vidalia, died Thursday, June 12, 2003, in the University Hospital of Augusta after a brief illness.
He was a native of Tattnall County. He had resided in Vidalia since 1963. He was a retired tool and die maker, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean conflict, a Mason and a member of Bible Baptist Church of Vidalia.
Survivors include one son, Mike Jeffers and wife, Connie, Vidalia; one daughter, Mitzie and husband, Jewitt Kitchens, Sr., Augusta; two borthers, John D. Jeffes, Sr. and wife, Marie, Byron, andLinvard Jeffers, Vidalia; one sister, Hawl McCall, Lyons; six grandchildren, Amanda and husband, Joe Phillips, Macon, Hope and Michale Jeffers, both of Vidalia, Maggie, Statesboro, Jewitt, Jr. and Jillian Kitchens, both of Augusta; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 14, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. from the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. Raymond Burrell, Rev. Mike Sapp and Rev. John D. Jeffers, Jr. officiating. Interment followed in Reidsvill City Cemetey.
Active pallbearers were Larry Adams, Donald Banks, Danny Adams, Jim Brantley, Thomas Scott and Larry Rushing. Honorary pallbearers were Woody Hattaway, Jim Davis and Johnny Mack Conner.

Mrs. Gladys "Tootsie" Lilliott, age 90, Lyons, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at her residence after an extended illness.
She was a native and life-long resident of Toombs County. She was a member of the Marvin United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by one brtoher, William S. Lilliott, Jr. and one sister, Marion Lilliott Slayton.
Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Jackie Lilliott, Lyons; one sister, Isabell Henslee, Marietta; several nieces and nephews including Mozelle and Irvin Pye and Jerry lilliott, all of Lyons; and Marcel Lilliott, Manchester; and great-nieces and nephews, Travis and Tiffany Pye, both of Lyons; and Rachel Lilliott, Manchester.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in Marvin United Methodist Church with Dr. Max Hill and Rev. Bill Lee officiating. Interment following in Clifton Family Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Robert Jones, Kenton Frost, Jeremy Jones, Alexander Darley, Park Newton and Jack Dubberly. Honorary Pallbearers were Sonny Durden, Ziegman Whonic, Ben Newton, Richard Clark, Eric Clark, Gilbert Anderson, Richard Thomas, Freddy Mobley, Burke Corbett, Josh Dasher, Jason Wiggins, Ernest Jones, Pratt Preduc and Ben Smith.

Mrs. Flora Belle George Lockley, age 82, Lyons, died Friday, June 13, 2003, in Memorial Medical Center of Savannah after an extended illness.
She is a native of Coffee County. She lived most of her life in Toombs County. She was a homemaker and a member of Providence Baptist Church and choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Lockley.
Survivors include three daughters, Sylvia Dennis, Lyons, Diane Pennington, Vidalia, and Gail Leith, lincolnton; one brother, W.H. George, Jonesville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Tami Dennis, Pasadena, Calif., and Freddy Dennis, Lyons; and four great-grandchildren, Jenna, Will and Brandon Dennis, all of Lyons, and Erin Dennis, Pasadena, Calif.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, June 15, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. in the Providence Baptist Church with Rev. James Wilcox and Rev. Mack Harris officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Corbett Hunter, Julian Lockley, Joe Buckbee, Al Darley, marion George and Gilbert George. Honorary pallbearers were Philip Griner, Ernest Jones, Wayne Kiekley, Jones Hart, Wade Stephens and Wade Stephens, Jr. Arrangements furnished by Jones-Stewart Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Vivian Miller, age 82, died Wednesday, June 10, 2003, in the Bethany Home Nursing Center of Vidalia after an extended illness.
She was a native of Inbdiana. She has resided in Vidalia for the past 20 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Tanna; two step-daughters, Samantha and Jane and two sisters, Virdie Mitchell and Elizabeth.
Graveside and committal services were conducted Thursday, June 12, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the Poplar Springs Church Cemetery.

Mr. John Alan Odom, age 51, Apopka, Florida, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at his residence.
He was a native of Chelsa, Massachusets, residing in Apopka for the past 20 years. He was a professional painter and a member of the Northland Community Church in Longwood, Florida.
Survivors include his parents, John and Pauline Odom, Altamonte Springs, Florida; one sister, Linda White, Calbash, North Carolina; one brother, David Odom, Altamonte Springs; his grandmother, Mrs. James Allen, Uvalda; and several nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, June 15, 2003, at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Morrison officiating. Interment followed in Pinecrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Larry, Royce and Jerry Allen, Mark Connell, Stephen Hart and Randall Morris.

Mrs. Geneva L. Wilds, age 76, Lyons, died Saturday, June 14, 2003, in the Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia after a brief illness.
She was a native of Emanuel County and had resided most of her life in Montgomery and Toombs counties. She was a homemaker and a member of the Emanuel Baptist Church in Lyons.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel Wilds, Lyons; one daughter, Darlene Strickland, Wachulla, Florida; four sons, Jackie Raffield, Savannah, John C. Raffield, Glenwood, Darrell Wilds and Ricky L. Wilds, both of Lyons; three sisters, Myrtle Rogers, Lyons, and Ruby Craft and Jeanette Conner, both of Uvalda; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. in the Emanuel Baptist Church in Lyons with pastor, Rev. Danny Zorn officiating. Interment followed in the Old Mt. Zion Cemetery near Ohoopee.
Pallbeareres were Phillip Anderson, Johnny Mock, Rondal Craft, Durrell Harden, Johnny King and Steven Wilds.
