Mrs. Marjorie Rogers Calhoun, age 69, died Sunday, November 16, 2003.
She taught music in Heard County Public Schools and was later a principal and school administrator with the Barrow County Schools. She was a member of the Education Faculty at Carolina University and later moved to Albany, Georgia to become principal of Lee County Elementary School. She later served as principal of Lee County Middle School and Kinchafoonie Elementary School. She was a member of the Milledge Avenue Baptist Church where she taught the Friendship Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Verda Kent Rogers.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Calfrey C. Calhoun; one daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Royce Pittman; one son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Millie Calhoun; four grandchildren, Connor and Meredith Pittman and Stephanie and Nicholas Calhoun; one brother Wendell Rogers; and one niece Andrea Brown.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, November 18, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the Milledge Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Edward Bolen and Rev. Claude McBride officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park.
Bernstein Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Robby Sam Findley, age 57, Metter, died Tuesday, November 11, 2003, at the Candler County Hospital.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Candler County. He worked for Pineland Telephone Company and assisted with recreational ball. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, a Baptist and a member of the Big Buck Hunting Club. He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Bird Findley Brown and sister Loretta Findley.
Survivors include two daughters, Shannon Lytell Findley and Monica Findley West, both of Metter; his father, Sam Findley, Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers, Gary Brown, Aline, Samuel Findley, Jacksonville; six sisters, Bobbie Jean Findley Stephens, Vidalia; Shirley Brown Cowart, Twin City, Linda Ballard, Fernadina Beach, Florida, Kathy Weldon and Stephanie Swearingen, both of Jacksonville, and Cynthia Cox, Yulee, Florida; and one grandson, Dalton Hernandez.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, November 13, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in the Cedar Street Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Wilson officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Tootle, Buddy Coleman, Ronald Cardell, Danny Cardell, Tommy Marsh and Larry Biggers. Honorary pallbearers were Pineland Telephone employees.
Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Home, Hooks Chapel of Metter were in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Mae Evelyn Hancock, age 74, Kissimmee, Florida, died Saturday, November 8, 2003, at her residence.
She was born in Tifton, Georgia, and later moved to Kissimmee. She was retired and a member of St. Cloud Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include five sons, Raymond Hancock, Hazlehurst, Bill Hancock, Walkertown, North Carolina, Brian Hancock, St. Cloud, Florida, and Charles Hancock and Tommy Hancock, both of Kissimmee; three daughters, Helen Brearley, Tallahassee, Florida, Bea Peavey and Barbara Hancock, both of Kissimmee; four sisters, Dorothy Lanier, Kissimmee, Ruth Honeycutt, Jennings, Florida, Edith Griffin, Jasper, Florida, Jessie McCall, Hitchcock, Texas; one brother, Hershel Standridge, Uvalda; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, November 11, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. in the Conrad and Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rodney Rowe and Rev. Steve Weeks officiating. Interment followed in the pleasant Hill Cemetery in Kissimmee.
Pallbearers were Bill Hancock, George Brearely, Michael Hancock, Bryan Hancock, Danny Fleming, Clinton McGarity, Marcus Waycaster and Billy Hancock.

Mrs. Mary Alice Kirkland Johnson, Mt. Vernon, died Wednesday, November 12, 2003, in the St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida, after a brief illness.
She was a native of Clinch County later moving to Long Pond Community. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, David Edward and Nora Riberon Kirkland.
Survivors include her husband, John Johnson, Mt. Vernon; three sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Bonnie Johnson, Orlando, Florida, Richard and Marilyn Johnson, Screven, and John A. and Julie Johnson, Long Pond; two sisters, Lou Ellen Hartsfield, Orange Park, Florida, and Martha Helen Harmon, Homerville; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 15, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Hendrix and Rev. Joe Phillips officiating. Interment followed in Long Pond Cemetery near Uvalda.
Pallbearers were Blake Johnson, Kirk and David Adams, Kevin Deloach and Mark and Joel Manning.

Mr. Clarence Ivey Kirby, age 88, Glenwood, died Thursday, November 13, 2003, at his residence after a brief illness.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Wheeler County. He was a retired farmer and grocer. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, and a member of Hope Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Odell Kirby, and one daughter, Mavis Stanley.
Survivors include one son, Don H. Kirby, Glenwood; one sister, Rubeana Dixon, Glenwood; three grandsons, Nick Baker, Leesburg, Georgia, Terry Baker, Palatka, Florida, and Todd Stanley, Juliette, Georgia; one granddaughter, Tammy Hughes, Glenwood; two great-grandsons, Jake Hughes, Glenwood, and Warren Baker, Leesburg; and three great-granddaughters, Kirby, Tyler and Peyton Baker, all of Palatka.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 15, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Dewitt Corbin and Rev. Chuck Morgan officiating. Interment followed in the Edge Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Terry Dixon, Greg Dixon, Jerry Dixon, Mike Dixon, Paul Dixon and Pete Horton.

Mr. Billy Mathews, Vidalia, died Friday, October 24, 2003.
He was a worker for 15 years for Shumans Cleaners.
Survivors include his wife, Florine Whatley Mathews, Vidalia; nine children, Jeffrey Wiggins, Jacksonvill, Florida, Stephanie Carrillo, Las Vegas, NV., Felicia Day, Lyons, Douglas Mathews, Atlanta, DeWayne Mathews, Andrea Mathews, Jessica mathews, Laquanda Mathews, and kadijah Mathews, all of Vidalia;; 11 brothers ans sisters, Alvin Mathews, Ronnie Mathews, Bessie Jackson, Robert Mathews, and Brenda Mathews, all of Vidalia, Gail Williams, Columbus, Frank Mathews, Catherine Glover, Diane Burch, all of Douglas, and Udell Couch, Jacksonville; one uncle, Walter Joiner "Buckshot;" one aunt, Lois NeeSmith; and one grandmother Gussie Page, Johnson Corner; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 1, 2003, at 12:00 noon in the Harvest Time Faith Center, Vidalia, with Superintendent Roy Lee Williams officiating. Interment followed in the Rocky Creek Cemetery of Johnson Corner.
Vidalia Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
