Mrs. Rosa Mae Brown, age 73, Higgston, died Monday, September 29, 2003.
She was born in Telfair County. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Brown, and her parents the late Wallace and Eliza Walker.
Survivors include three sons, John R. Brown, Jacksonville, Georgia, Ralph Brown, Normantown, and Michael Ray Brown, Vidalia; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wedndesday, October 1, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sand Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Prentice Herndon officiating. Interment followed in the Sand Grove Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Fanny Kelley, Vidalia, died Saturday, September 27, 2003, in Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia.
She was Baptist.
Survivors include six sons, Adolph Kelley, George Kelley, Raymond Kelley, Dennis Kelley and Benjamin Kelley, all of Vidalia; two daughters, Jacqueline Kelley, Vidalia, and Carolyn Easter, Hillside, N.J.; her mother-in-law, Mary Kelley, Caux Hall, N.J.; 20 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, October 4, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Vidalia with Rev. Willie Haynes officiating. Interment followed in East Park Cemetery of Vidalia.

Mr. R. J. Kennedy, Jr., age 93, died Saturday, October 4, 2003, at his residence.
He was born in Bulloch County. He was a registered professional engineer and surveyor. He has been a member of the Statesboro Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow and Will Watt Fellow. He was a founding member of the Georgia Concrete and Products Assocation. He was a member of the St. Andrews Society, the Scottish Heritage Society of Southeast Georgia, a lifetime member of the Bulloch County Historical Society and was one of the founding members of Forest Heights Country Club. He was former chairman of the Statesboro Board of Education and a former president of the Statesboro Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce. He founded Concrete Products Co., which became Kennedy Concrete and later became Kennedy Industries. He was a Chairman of the Board for Kennedy Truck and Trailer in Statesboro and Augusta. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Rice Kennedy, and his second wife, Edna Spell Newton.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Verdery Kennedy, Statesboro; two grandchildren, Reed Kennedy and wife Cheryl and Anna Kay Hotchkiss and husband, Jamie; five great-grandchildren, Ellen, Garrett and Grace Kennedy and Evan and Bobbie Anna Hotchkiss; three step-children; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the Statesboro First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tim Bauler, Rev. John Bressler and Rev. Bill Perry officiating. Interment Followed in the Eastside Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were employees of Kennedy Industries.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Statesboro, 1215 Fair Rd., Statesboro, Georgia 30458, or the Georgia Southern Botanical Gardens, P.O. Box 8039, Statesboro, Georgia 30461.

Mrs. Margie Knight, age 42, Lyons, died Friday, September 26, 2003, in Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia.
She was a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, living in Folkston most of her life and in Toombs County the past two years. She was a licensed cosmotogisit. She was prcdeded in death by her mother, Margaret M. Atkins.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Knight, Lyons; one daughter, Bethany McCallister, Folkston; two sons, Tyler and Doug McCalllister, both of Folkston; three step-daughters, Mandi Douglas and Angie Waller, both of Lyons, and Gabrielle knight, Prarieville, Louisiana; one step-son, Mathew Knight, Lyons; her father, Alfred Atkins, Sr., Folkston; three sisters, Debra Woods, Lumber City, Jenny Crews and Becky Todd, both of Folkston; three brothers, David Phillips, Folkston, and Alfred Atkins, Jr., Cummining; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Matthews Church of God with Rev. Harry Sims and Rev. Shannon Mimbs officating. Graveside services were conducted at 3:30 p.m. in Sardis Cemetery near Folkston.
Pallbearers were Lloyd Knight, Charles Coleman, Barry Waller, Pete Mimbs, Vance Knight and Dale Woods.

Mr. John Hilton Lee, age 65, died Friday, August 8, 2003, in the Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia after an extended illness.
He was a native of Wheeler County living most of his life in Toombs County.
Survivors include his wife Madeen Lee; one son Tracy Jerome Lee, Brandbidge, Georgia; one daughter, Dorthea A. Clarkson, Ailey; three sisters, Velmon Brown, St. Petersburg, Florida, Florine Harris, Vidalia, and Mary Stokes, Macon; three brothers, Eddie A. Lee, Ailey, Charlie Lee, Lyons, and Albert Lee, St. Petersburg; five grandchildren; two aunts; one uncle; several half-brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 16, 2003, at 1:00 p.m. in the Poplar Spring Baptist Church. Interment followed in the Poplar Spring Cemetery.

Mr. M.C. Meeks, age 72, Lyons, died Monday, September 29, 2003, in Toombs County Nursing Home of Lyons after an extended illness.
He was a native of Emanuel County living most of his life in Toombs County.
Survivors include his wife, Jacquelin Meeks, Lyons; two sons, Marvin Tommy Hulett and Mitchell Meeks, both of Lyons; two daughters, Brenda Harrison and Terri Weber, both of Reno, Nevada; one brother, Gary Meeks, Monks Corner, South Carolina; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. in the Lyons Freewill Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. Rick Wilson, officiating. Interment followed in Waters Cemetery in Emanuel County.
Pallbearers were David Powell, Mike Harlin, Wayne Smith, Mike Caraway, Dan Caraway and George Fant.

He was a native of Emanuel County and was a brick mason.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann Rhymes Beal, Vidalia; five sons, Grable Rhymes, Jr., Gregory Rhymes and Rodney Gillis, all of Vidalia, Allen C. Rhymes, Nashville, and Shannon Phillips, Tampa, Florida; his mother, Occie Rhymes, Atlanta; one brother, Belton Rhymes, Mt. Vernon; five sisters, Betty Johnson and Inez Breland, both of Detroit, Mi., Mitty Duhart, Nora Brown and Wanda Anthony, all of Atlanta; one friend, Inez Kinsey; 15 grandchildren; and several other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, September 1, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Church of God in Christ, Soperton, with Elder Willie O. Little officiating. Interment followed in the Eternal Glory Gardens, Vidalia.

Mrs. Bessie Fields Scott, age 97, Toombs Nursing Home, Lyons, died Saturday, September 27, 2003, after an extended illness.
She was a native of Johnson County, and lived most of her life in Toombs County. She was a homemaker and a member of the East Gordon Baptist Church of Lyons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loran Allen Scott and two sons, Sam Scott and Louis Scott.
Survivors include six daughters, Louise Ingersol, Burleson, Texas, Cuba Briggs, Guyton, Jean Gashaw, Ft. Gaines, Georgia, Ruby Rushing and May Powell, both of Lyons, and Donna Johnson, Hagan; one daughter-in-law, Betty Scott, Lyons; two sons, Thomas Scott, Lyons and mickey Scott, Vidalia; 24 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, September 29, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. in the East Gordon Baptist Church of Lyons with Rev. Darrell Harn and Rev. Jeff Rollins officiating. Interment followed in Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery near Swainsboro.
Pallbearers were Chris Scott, Donnie Scott, Clayton Rushing, Jason Rushing, Mike Bellflower and Stacy Briggs.

Mrs. Dorothy Louise Smith Stinson, age 88, Dublin, died Tuesday, September 30, 2003.
She was a lifelong resident of Laurens County. She was a member of the First Christian Church and was a retired bookkeeper for Stinson Tractor and implement Company. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Covington Smith and Ida Warren Smith, her husband, Murray Stinson, one brother, John C. Smith, Jr. and one sister, Thelma Laura Jones.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James M. and Nancy Stinson,, Dublin; one daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Reginald Collins, Vidalia; five grandchildren, Melanie and David Parker, Vidalia, Melinda and Cecil Thompson, Vidalia, and kristen Stinson, macon; and three great-grandchildren, Morgan Cannon, Meredith Park and Brogan Thompson, all of Vidalia.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, October 3, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in the First Christian Church with Rev. Billy Glosson, Mr. Allen Thomas and Dr. Lynn Homes officiating. Interment followed in the Northview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dr. Lynn Homes, Cecil Thompson, David Parker, Danny Stinson, Terry Stinson and Don Branch.

Mrs. Frances Kay West, age 60, Lyons, died Friday, October 3, 2003, after an extended illness.
She was a native of Jenkins County, residing in Vidalia most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Baptist Church of Lyons.
Survivors include four sons, Jimmy Bowen and Gary Bowen, both of Vidalia, Timothy Jennings, Waynesboro, Christopher West, Lyons; one daughter, Michelle Hardeman, Higgston; two sisters, Gladys England, Richmond Hill, and Peggy Messex, Claxton; four brothers, Jack Messex, Vidalia, Gene Messex, Bloomingdale, Jerry Messex, Savannah, and Perry Messex, Ellebell; and 11 Grandchildren.
Memorial services were conducted Monday, October 6, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. Don Gibbs officiating.
