Mr. Rollie O’Brian Barber Obituary

[Lyons, Toombs County, Georgia]

Mr. Rollie O’Brian Barber, age 50, Lyons, died Wednesday, December 15, 2004, at his residence after an extended illness.

He was a native of Orange County, Florida, residing in Lyons for several years. He was a retired tree surgeon and Baptist by faith.

Survivors include two sons, Rollie Barber, Jr., Westville, Florida, and Ronnie Barber, Lyons; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services were conducted Monday, December 20, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sharpe Cemetery with Rev. Arthur Conley officiating. Interment followed.

Mr. Billy “Bill” Cleve Edge Obituary

[Uvalda, Montgomery County, Georgia]

Mr. Billy “Bill” Cleve Edge, age 62, Uvalda, died Wednesday, December 22, 2004, in Meadows Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was a native of Tattnall County, living in Uvalda for many years. He was a retired farmer and Baptist by faith.

Survivors include four sisters, Sastine Calhoun and Nellie Coleman, both of Uvlada, Minnie Ruffin, Milner, and Carlina Hitchcock, Lyons; four brothers, Willard, Charles and Truman Edge, Wrightsville; a friend, Cynthia Stanridge, Uvalda; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 26, 2004, at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Rev. Herbert Toole officiatiing. Interment followed in Cedar Crossing Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Hillard Wynn, Thurman Bell, Billy Brown, Derick Edge, Kenneth Edge and Gary Berens.

Mrs. Gwendolyn Johnson Obituary

[Vidalia, Toombs County, Georgia]

Mrs. Gwendolyn Johnson, Vidalia, died Tuesday, December 7, 2004, in the Magnolia Nursing Home of Vidalia.

She was a native of Treutlen County.

Survivors include her husband, Boisey "Jimmy" Johnson, Vidalia; one daughter, Sharon McNeir, Lyons; one step-daughter, Regina Hill, Vidalia; one step-son, Reginald McClendon, Vidalia; three sisters, Fannie Mae Marshal, Ft. Myers, Florida, Annie Lois Thomas, Lyons, and Janice Wicker, Soperton; one brother, Johnnie Thomkins, Vidalia; two aunts, Ethel Lee Parker and Rosie Lee Walker; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, December 18, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Church of God in Christ Church with Superentendent Annians Phillips officiating. Interment followed in the Hodges Cemetery of Soperton.

Mrs. Nannie Lou Johnson Obituary

[Vidalia, Toombs County, Georgia]

Mrs. Nannie Lou Johnson, age 79, Vidalia, died Thursday, December 23, 2004, in the Bethany Home Nursing Center of Vidalia after an extended illness.

She was a native of Treutlen County, living in Vidalia most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Blocker's Chapel Methodist Church.

Survivors include eight daughters, Betty King, Nell Blount, Margie Beasley and Karen Kilgore, all of Vidalia, JoAnn Toole, Lyons, Peggy Sue Tomlin, Brunswick, Lilian Senns, Phenix City, Alabama, and Teresa Taylor, Alma; four sons, Robin Johnson, Oak Park, and Larry Johnson, Johnny Johnson and Benny Johnson, all of Lyons; one sister, Doris Heath, Vidalia; 20 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 26, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. in the Blockers Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. Albert White officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Andy Blount, Chris Blount, Bruce Blount, Zane Tomlin, Bill Blount and Bobby Blount.

Mr. Earl Dean NeeSmith Obituary

[Uvalda, Montgomry, County, Georgia]

Mr. Earl Dean NeeSmith, age 72, Uvalda, died Friday, December 24, in the Meadows Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Toombs County, He was a retired business owner and was a member of the Cedar Crossing Church of God.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyliss NeeSmith and Janice Mata, both of Jacksonville, Florida; one sister, Tiny NeeSmith, Cedar Crossing; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two nephews, Paul and Danny NeeSmith, Cedar Crossing.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, December 26, 2004, at 4:00 p.m. in the Cedar Crossing Church of God with Rev. Steven Toole and Rev. Bobby Toole officiating. Interment followed in the Cedar Crossing Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Danny NeeSmith, Paul NeeSmith, Darrell Bryant, Byrant Adams, Dyland Silvers and Jerry Silvers, Honorary pallbearers were Mike Outland, Wade Arnold and Willard Wiggins.

Mr. Hugh V. NeeSmith Obituary

[Uvalda, Montgomry, County, Georgia]

Mr. Hugh V. NeeSmith, age 74, Uvlada, died Thursday, December 23, 2004, in St. Joseph/Candler Hospital of Savannah after a brief illness.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Toombs County. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Cedar Crossing Church of God. He was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie NeeSmith.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn NeeSmith, Uvlada; three sons, Lynn NeeSmith and Ricky NeeSmith, both of Cedar Crossing, and Billy NeeSmith, Lyons; four daughters, Peggy NeeSmith, Oak Park, Janice Haynes, Lyons, Karen Milton, Baxley, and Deborah P. Wakefield, Augusta; one extended daughter, Judy Kennedy, Lyons; one brother, J. Hall NeeSmith, Cedar Crossing; one sister, Irene Willis, Brusnwick; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, December 24, 2004, at 4:00 p.m. in the Cedar Crossing Church of God with Rev. Steven Toole officiating. Interment followed in the Cedar Crossing Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Heath Wingard, Gene Hart, Billy Mattox, Greg Wiggins, Willard Wiggins and Lamar Toole.

Mrs. Opal Graham Whitaker Obituary

[Uvalda, Montgomry, County, Georgia]

Mrs. Opal Graham Whitaker, age 82, Uvalda, died Wednesday, December 22, 2004, at her residence after a brief illness.

She was a native of Wheeler County, residing most of her life in Uvalda. She was a homemaker and a member of Snowhill Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd Whitaker, Uvalda; two daughters, Ruby White, Knoxville, Georgia, and Edna Davis, Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Helen Walker, Higgston, and Joyce Cothren, Uvalda; four brothers, Walter Bailey, Uvalda, Bobby Bailey, Richland, Washington, Willis Bailey, Lacey, Washington, and James Bailey, Henderson, Nevada; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, December 24, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. Frank Barfield, Rev. Joe Phillips and Rev. Paul Carlson officiating. Interment followed in Uvalda City Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Glenn Garrett, Mark McKie, Cliff McKie, Jr., Darrell Walker, Henry Walker, John Earl Bailey and Preston Copeland. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Paul Copleand, Ben Clements, Charles Morris, Jimmy Brantley, Gary Martin and Johnny Barfield.
