Mr. Seber Burton Obituary

[Lyons, Toombs Co., GA]

Mr. Seber Burton, age 82, Lyons, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, in Wheeler County.

He was a native of Montgomery County, living most of his life in Toombs County. He was a retired truck driver, a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and a member of the Vidalia Advent Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Dubois Burton.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty, Ladner, Lyons, and Kathleen Kendrick, Stilson; one son, Marion Bryant, Jacksonville, Florida; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 6, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Rev. Travis Hutcheson and Rev. Clint Hutcheson officiating. Interment followed in the Lyons City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were C.J. Cady, Mark, Steven and Eric Hudson; and Rocky and Chris Flowers.

Mr. George W. Crawford Obituary

[Glenwood, Wheeler Co., GA]

Mr. George W. Crawford, age 82, Glenwood, died Sunday, March 7, 2004, in Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia after a brief illness.

He was a native of Wheeler County, living in Florida for many years and later moving to Glenwood. He retired from J.P. Stevens and Co., and was a member of First Baptist Church of Glenwood.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Rae Crawford, Glenwood; two sons, Bobbie Ray Crawford, Ft. Pierce, Florida and George Randy Crawford, Glenwood; four daughters, Joan Southards, Charlotte, N.C., Sharron Regina Debus, Vero Beach, Florida, Lynn Renea Crawford, Cherryville, N.C., and Teresa Maria Earick, McIntyre, Georgia; two sisters, Eunice Dunn, Brooksville, Florida, and Agnes Dixon, Brooksville; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 11, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Glenwood with Rev. Dan Zellner officiating. Interment will follow in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Marvin L. Evans, Jr. Obituary

[Tarrytown, Montgomery Co., GA]

Mr. Marvin L. Evans, Jr., age 68, Tarrytown, died Monday, March 1, 2004, in Candler Hospital of Savannah after a brief illness.

He was a native of Chatham County residing in Vidalia for many years. He was a retired U.S. Navy Veteran, was employed at Ladson Genealogy Library of Vidalia, was a member of Mt. Vernon VFW, Vidalia American Legion, Vidalia Church of God, and was an ordained minister.

Survivors include his wife, Reba F. Evans, Tarrytown; one son, Karl Evans, Japan; one daughter, Nancy Haney, Hinesville; two step-sons, Chris Eason and Joshua Eason, both of Hinesville; nine grandchildren; and two nieces.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, March 5, 2004, at 2:30 p.m. in the Vidalia Church of God with Rev. Joe Smith, Rev. C.B. Easterlin, and Rev. Jim Rogers, officiating. Interment followed in the Pinecrest Cemetery with full military honors.

Pallbearers were Joshua Eason, Chris Eason, Jamie Brooks, Jerry Collins, Rhett Jay, Terry Durrence, Russell Burkett, and Ben Usher.

Deacon John Faison Obituary

[Toombs Co. GA]

Deacon John Faison, age 86, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, in the Meadows Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.

He was a native of Toombs County. He was a Baptist and a World War II Veteran.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Faison Demarzino, Newark, N.J., and Johnnie Lee Cook, Lyons; 18 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and several other relatives.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 6, 2004, at 3:00 p.m. in the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of Lyons with Rev. Edward M. Bell officiating, Interment followed in the Hillsboro Cemetery of Lyons.

Vidalia Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Carrie L. Wiggins Jackson Obituary

[Toombs Co. GA]

Mrs. Carrie L. Wiggins Jackson died at the age of 72.

She was a member of Evergreen C.O.G.I.C., Supt. A. Phillips, pastor. She was preceded in death by one son, Anhderson, Jr.; and two daughters, Liza Jackson and Yvonne Woodsort.

Survivors include her husband, Anderson; six daughters, Elizabeth, Elshart, Texas, Clora, Patricia, Carrie, Shelia and Theresa, all of Miami, Florida; one son, Andrew, Miami; one sister, Mazie McGirt; two brothers, Tommie Joe and Nathaniel Wiggins, Soperton; three sister-in-law, Estetta Smith, Vidalia, Kathleen Lanier, Miami, and naomi Edmond, Albion, MI; one aunt, Ruby Harris, Soperton; 31 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Lucille H. McCollum Obituary

[Vidalia, Toombs Co. GA]

Mrs. Lucille H. McCollum, age 76, Vidalia, died Saturday, March 6, 2004, in the St. Joseph Hospital of Savannah after a brief illness.

She was a native of Boyd County, Kentucky, resided in New Port Richey, Florida, for many years later moving to Vidalia. She was a homemaker and of the Christian faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Frances Vanderwater, Lyons; one son, James R. Hurtt, Shelbyville, one grandson, Ryan Hurtt, Shelbyville; one sister, Frances Salyer, Dunedin, Florida.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Alma B. Savage, age 79, Gibson, Georgia, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, after an extended illness.

She was a native of Alabama, living most of her life in Lyons, before moving to Gibson. She was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith.

Survivors include one sister-in-law, Lula B. Savage, Lyons; one niece, Frances Sharpe, Lyons; and one newphew, Woodie Savage, Boron, California.

Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bobby Dixon officiating. Interment followed.

Mrs. Eunice Bragg Walton Obituary

[Swainsboro, Emanuel Co. GA]

Mrs. Eunice Bragg Walton, age 91, died Saturday, March 6, 2004, in the Emanuel Medical Center in Swainsboro after an extended illness.

She was a native of Dooly County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Swainsboro where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She worked in the Emanuel County School Systems as a teacher and librarian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff Harris Walton, Sr., and her parents, Frank and Effie Peavy Bragg.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in=law, Cliff and Sally Walton, Jr., Swainsboro, and Carlton and Brenda Walton, Vidalia; one sister, Margaret Broxton, Tampa, Florida, nine grandchildren, Renee Crane, Michelle Ethredge, Tara Carter, Cliff Harris Walton III, Ann Walton Bowe, Jan Walton Bradley, Dickie Walton, Clint Cooper and Christy Scoggins; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary with Rev. Ed Thompson officiating. Interment followed in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.
