Mr. Richard Lee Anderson, age 76, Vidalia, died Saturday, May 15, 2004, in the Veterans Administration Hospital of Augusta after a brief illness.
He was a native of New Wilmington, Penn., residing for many years in Atlanta and Savannah and later moving to Vidalia. He was a retired insurance agent, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of Vidalia American Legion Post 97, First Baptist Church of Vidalia and Men's Bible Class.
Survivors include his wife, Faye C. Anderson, Vidalia; two daughters, Debra Hiers, Dodge City, Kansas, and Laura L. Andrews, Arlington, Texas; two sons, Terry L. Anderson, Peachtree City, and Richard J. Anderson, Bountiful, Utah; two step-daughters, Mary W. Thompson, Vidalia, and Brenda Helms, Lyons; one step-son, Dewey Ray Whitaker, Jr., Brooklet, Georgia; one sister, Myrna Anderson, New Wilmington; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, May 17, 2004, at 3:00 p.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. Bucky Kennedy and Rev. Don Moye officiating. Interment followed with full military honors in Pinecrest Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were James Lester, George King, Dr. A.J. Morris, James Stovall, Joe Blaxton, Ezra Aaron and A.J. Albrintton. Honorary pallbearers were Vidalia First Baptist Church Men's Bible Class.

Mrs. Clora D. Clark, age 88, Glenwood, died Sunday, May 16, 2004, in the Brian Nursing Center of Lumber City after a brief illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Wheeler County. She was a homemaker and a member of Glenwood Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lee "Bill" Clark.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Eloise and Leon Pope, Glenwood; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Elna and Clifton Butler, Glenwood; one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jimmy and Elizabeth Pope, Glenwood; two sisters, Edna Pittman, Glenwood; and Margie Gaddis, Braselton; one brother and sister-in-law, Hilton and Winnie Dixon, Glenwood; three great-grand-sons and great-granddaughters-in-law, Craig and Melondy Butler, Glenwood, William and Starlit Pope, Glenwood, and Brent and Sabrina Pope, Glenwood; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at 4:00 p.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service, Glenwood Chapel with Rev. James Fennell and Rev. Ronnie Saxton officiating. Interment followed in the Edge Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbeareres were Mack Smith, Joe Benton, Gene Dixon, Mike Dixon, Paul Dixon and Jerry Dixon. Honorary pallbearers were Buddy Dixon, Jack Wooten, Labay Corbin, Leory Jones, Mack Oswalt, Don Kirby, Greg Dixon and Clyde Smith.

Mrs. Marguerite Elizabeth Clinton, age 80, Athens, died Thursday, May 13, 2004.
She was a native of Mt. Airey, Georgia. She had lived in the Athens area for many years and was a veteran of the United States Marine Coprs. She retired in 1988 from St. Mary's Hospital and was a member of Hebron Presbyterian Church in Commerce. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Ingram and Dollye Elizabeth Ponder, and her husband, Robert H. Clinton, Sr.
Survivors include seven children, Donald C. Clinton, Sr. and Mymie Clinton, Vidalia, Rocky "R.H." Clinton, Jr. and Vicky Clinton, Lilburn, Georgia, Barry and Patsy Clinton, Franklin, N.C., Toni and Rick Wooten, Fletcher, N.C., Larry and JoAnn Clinton, Loganville, Georgia, Greg and Sun Clinton, Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Mardee Clinton, Commerce; two sisters and brother-in-law, Sheryl and Jay Toci, Watkinsville, Georgia, and Mary Evelyn Petrosky, Watkinsville; one brother and sister-in-law, Rob "R.I." Jr. and Jo Thompson, Cleveland, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren, including Carey Clinton and Amy Clinton Alba; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, May 16, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lord and Stephens, East with Rev. Gary West officiating. Interment followed in the Athens Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were Robbie Clinton, Tommy Clinton, Mark Clinton, Charlie Bowden, Ben Clinton, Carey Clinton and Rusell Clinton.
Memorials may be made to Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic or Habitat for Humanity.

Mr. DeWitt Fulford, age 79, Satsuma, died Monday, May 10, 2004, in Putnam Community Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was a native of Uvalda. He worked as a truck driver and he was former owner of Georgia Boys Fish Camp. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Macon Lodge #5, Al Sihih Lodge in Macon, Valley of Macon and Orient of Georgia and earned the Scottish Rite. He was a member of Putnam County Shrine Club and Morrocco Temple and he was Ambassador at Large.
Survivors include his wife, Inear Fulford; one son, Larry D. Fulford, Palatka; two daughters, Lynda Jeanette, Palatka, Donna McIntosh, Marietta; one brother, Thurston Fulford, Lyons; one sister, Carolyn O'Neal, Lyons; seven grandchildren, Lisa Williams, DeLand, Florida, LeAnne Harper, Macon, Melody Whigam, Boise, Idaho, Melissa Justice, Paltaka, Shawn Bullard, Vilano Beach, Florida, Cecily Dennis, Miami, Florida, and Kelly McIntosh, Marietta; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were conducted Friday, May 14, 2004, at 3:00 p.m. in the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor David Willink officiating. Masonic services were conducted by Pineland Lodge #186.

Mrs. Ruth L. Hicks, age 83, Mt. Vernon, died Thursday, May 13, 2004, at her residence after an extended illness.
She was a native of Gracen County, Virginia, living in Montgomery County for many years. She was a homemaker and a member of Uvalda First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Absher, Alston, Charlotte Eavenston, Vidalia and Geraldine White, Merritt Island, Florida; one brother, Silas Jones, Marion, Virginia; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 15, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. Joe Phillips officiating. Intement followed in the Long Pond Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Darrell Honadle, Duane Honadle, Charles Williams, Mark Absher, Travis Absher, Dusty Absher and Chris Yoder.

Mr. E. Eldridge Mathes, age 77, Lyons, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, in the Toombs Nursing Home of Lyons after an extended illness.
He was a native of Emanuel County, living most of his life in Lyons. He was a retired carpeter and a former member of Liberty Baptist Church in lyons.
Survivors include four nieces, Victoria Crawford, Vidalia, Cathy, Ann and Cindy Smith, all of Lyons; and one nephew, Terry Collins, Jacksonville, Florida.
Funeral services were donducted Saturday, May 15, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Burrell officiating. Interment followed in the Old Reedy Cemetery near Lyons.
Pallbearers were Robert Crawford, Lawrence Collins, Jeffery Johnson and Runt Edenfield.

Mr. Hillery D. Sumner, age 93, Savannah, died Sunday, May 16, 2004, in Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation of Statesboro after an extended illness.
He was a native of Wheeler County and later moved to Savannah. He was a retired carpenter, a member of Local 256, Carpenters Union, and a member of C.P. Miller United Methodist Church of Savannah.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Sumner, Statesboro; one daughter, Joan Flanders, Guyton; one sister, Winnie Dixon, Glenwood; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. Randall Gibbs officiating. Interment followed inthe Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery in Wheeler County.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Fields, Carl Sumner, Randall Clark, Ernest Clark, James Cooper and Guy Clary.
