Mrs. Marjorie Bradham

Mrs. Marjorie Bradham, age 85, died Monday, May 13, 2002, in Bethany Home Nursing Center of Vidalia following an extended illness.

The native and lifelong Toombs County resident was a homemaker and a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, W. C. Futch, Naples, Fla., and Troy Futch, Ft. Myers, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, May 16, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Jones-Stewart Funeral Home. Interment followed in Mt. Moriah Cemetery near Lyons.

Mr. James D. "Jim" Glover, Jr.

Mr. James D. "Jim" Glover, Jr., age 67, Dunwoody, died Saturday, May 18, 2002, after an extended illness.

He was born in Dublin, reared in Vidalia, and had lived in Atlanta for the past 50 years. He attended Georgia Tech, The University of Georgia and was a graduate of John Marshall Law School. He was a Claims Adjuster retiring from Standard Guaranty Insurance. He volunteered at Murphy Candler Little League coaching both boys baseball and girls fast pitch softball travel team. He was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Glover, children, James D. Glover III, Beth Glover; granddaughter, Olivia Glover; sisters, Corinne Page, Vidalia, Martha McLeod, Pensacola, Fla., Julie Dorsey, Farragut, Tenn., Mary Palmer, Tarrytown, Frances Pulliam, Atlanta; and several nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Memorial services were conducted Monday, May 20, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. at Oglethorpe Hill. A private burial in Arlington Memorial Park.

Mr. Charles Lindberg Graham

Mr. Charles Lindberg Graham, age 73, Lyons, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, in Meadows Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

The Coleman, Florida, native had resided all his life in lyons. He was retired from the U.S. Army 11th Airborne and was a paratooper instructor. He was a member of Lyons Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Higgs Graham, Lyons; one son, Danny Graham, Lyons; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debby and Johnny Alamia, and Candy and Danny Creamer, all of Lyons; two brothers and on sister-in-law, Eugene graham, New Jersey, and Jerry and Ann Graham, Lyons; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Betty Brown, Willie Claude Gibson, and Dorothy and Emory Bryd, Lyons; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were conducted Saturday, May 18, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in Lakeview Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Ricky Wilson and Johnny Brannen officating. Interment followed.

Mr. Howard Ingley, Jr.

Mr. Howard Ingley, Jr., age 81, Vidalia, died Monday, May 27, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness.

The Crafton, Pennsylvania, native grew up in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. He relocated to Macon in 1948, and to Vidalia in 2000. He earned a master's degree from the Eastman School of Music of the Uniersity of Rochester. He began his teaching career at Wesleyan College in Macon. He was a vestryman, choir director and organist at Saint James and Saint Francis Episcopal churches in Macon. He also taught private piano lessons for some 40 years. He was a retired lower school principal and music director at Stratford Academy in Macon, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Rae S. Ingley, Vidalia; three sons, Dennis Ingley, Vidalia, Paul Ingley, Rock Hill, S.C., and Alan Ingley, Columbus; two sisters, Louise Moore, Salem, Ohio, and Sarah Cool, Fort Worth, Texas; and six grandchildren.

Memorial services were conducted Friday, May 31, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in Episcopal Church of the Annunication in Vidalia with Father Ron Southerland officating, Graveside committal services followed at 4:00 p.m. in Macon Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Methodist Home for Children and Youth, P.O. Box 2525, Macon, GA 31203; Southern Care Hospice of Vidalia, 304 West First Street, Vidalia, 30474; Stratford Academy, Peek Road, Macon, GA 31230; or Episcopal Church of the Annunciation, 1512 Meadows Lane, Vidalia, 30474.

Mr. Gary Vinson Jones

Mr. Gary Vinson Jones, age 50, Lyons, died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at his residence following a sudden illness.

The native and lifelong Toombs County resident was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local union #84.7 and employed as an electrician at Hatch Nuclear Plant. He was a Marvin Yancey volunteer fireman, a United States Air Force veteran, and was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Paula Jones, Lyons; one daughter, Krysta Jones, Lyons; one son, Vince Jones, Lyons; his parents, Georgia and Ernest Jones, Lyons; three sisters, Deborah Handy, Clearwater, Fla., Cynthia Butler, Glenwood, Teresa braddock, Lyons; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Jones-Stewart Funeral Home of Lyons with the Reverend John Sullivan and the Reverend James Wilcox officating. Interment followed in Providence Baptist Church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Johnny Jones, Allen Jones, Albert Jones, Lash Hayes, James Jones, and Monty Usher.

Memorials may be made to the Marvin Yancey Volunteer Fire Deparment.

Mrs. Deborah Harrell

Mrs. Deborah Harrell, Vidalia, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in Glenwood Nursing Home following an extended illness.

She was a native of Broward County, Florida.

Survivors include one son, William Page, Lyons; her mother, Maxine Harrell, Vidalia; three brothers, Willie Frank Harrell, Ft. lauderdale, Fla., William Harrell, Eastmen, and Mark Douglas, Savannah; two sisters, Dorese Harrell, Battle Creek, Mich., and Sharon Harmon, Augusta; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 8, 2002, at 3:00 p.m. in Phillips Temple Church of God in Christ in Vidalia with Bishop James Holland delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Mosleytown Cemetery in Tarrytown.

Mr. Terence Orlowski

Mr. Terence Orlowski, age 54, Vidalia, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in Meadows Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

The Detorit, Michigan, native had resied in Vidalia for the past five years. He was retired from the Chrysler Corporation, and was Catholic by faith.

Surviovors include two sons, Adam Orlowski and Terence Orlowski, Jr., both of Detroit; one daughter, Crystal kay Dean, Detroit; two brothers, Gerald Orlowski, Vidalia, and Danny Orlowski, Detroit; and one sister, Anita Kuretich, Detroit.

Memorial services were conducted Friday, May 31, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father mark Ross officiating.

Mr. Dyess Shuman

Vidalia businessman, civic and church leader Dyess Shuman died Monday, May 27, 2002, in Meadows Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mr. Shuman, a member of a well-known area family, was a native and lifelong resident of Toombs County. He was the retired owner/operator of Shuman Saveway Grocery Store, a landmark on McIntosh Street for many years, and was a former member of the Board of Directors of Darby Bank and Trust Company. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Vidalia, and a member of the church's Men's Bible Class. He was preceded in death by his, Shadrack Shuman.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Dell Shuman, Vidalia; one daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Pete Clark, Hinesville; one daughter-in-law, Betty Shuman, Vidalia; two sisters, Tressa Holdeman, Fort Myers, Fla., and Mary Kate Evans, Vidalia; six grandchildren, Pam Horne, Mt. Vernon, Randy Shuman, Union Point, Kim Rigsby and Dyes Clark, both of Atlanta, Robert Shuman, Vidalia, and Debra Sukaratana, Hinesville; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, May 30, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in First Baptist Church of Vidalia with the Reverend Don Moye officiating. Interment followed in Pinecrest Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Rodney Pierce, Garrett Warnock, William Phillips, Eddie Tyson, Ronal Morris and Rudolph Hall. Honorary pallbearers were the Men's Bible Class of First Baptist Church of Vidalia, and Wade Chesser, Donald Estroff, Jay McDonald, Charles Chapman, Polly Rushton, Lois Wood and H.L. Williamson.

Mrs. Myrtle Lois Fannin Swearingen

Mrs. Myrtle Lois Fannin Swearingen, age 75, Moultrie, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, in Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

The Tallapossa County, Alabama, native was the daughter of the late Joseph Henry Fannin and Exie Dell Cannon Fannin. She was the Divisional Manager of Belk Matthews in Vidalia and was a member of Lakeside Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Frank Swearingen, Sr.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Kenneth and Charlotte Fannin, Moultrie, James Frank, Jr. and Ellen Swearingen, Vidalia, and Joseph Gary and Deborah Lynn Swearingen, Soperton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Gale and Lynn Rice, Vidalia, and Glenda Dale and Johnny M. Yearty, Albany; one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph Clyde and Opal Elizabeth Fannin, Orlando, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home in Moultrie with the Reverend Steve Comer and the Reverend Brad Fussell officiating. Interment followed in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Moultrie.

Active pallbearers were grandsons Larry Joe Fannin, Kevin Rice, Shannon Lee Jackson, Timothy Bruce Barr, James Frank Swearingen III, Joseph D. Fannin and Garmiah Swearingen. Honorary pallbearers were the nurses, respiratory dept., and doctors of Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Allen Vernon Tuten

Dr. Allen Vernon Tuten, age 84, Baxley, died Thursday, May 23, 2002, in Toombs Nursing Home in Lyons.

The Appling County native was the son of the late Joseph a. Tuten and the late Ruth Rogers Tuten. He had resided in appling County most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a technical sergeant in the 239th Army Air Force Base Unit. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with four Bronze Stars and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a retired veterinarian, and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mayers Tuten, and two daughters, Sandra Tuten and Joanne Tuten Nail.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mymie and Donald Clinton, Vidalia; three grandchildren, Heath Nail, Carey Clinton and Amy Clinton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, May 26, 2002, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of David E. Miles Funeral Home in Baxley with Father Mark Ross and the Reverend Jay Meadows officiating. Interment followed in Piney Grove Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Greg Clinton, Ernie Tuten, Mark Tuten, John Tuten, Hugh Mayers and James Tuten. Honorary pallbearers were the Fishermen Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.

Mr. William A. "Bill" Wheeler

Mr. William A. "Bill" Wheeler, age 77, Vidalia, died Friday, May 31, 2002, in Memorial Health University Medical Center of Savannah following a brief illness.

The Emanuel County native had resided most of his life in Vidalia. He was the retired owner/operator of Power Oil Company of Vidalia, and presently of Wheelers Bargain Corner of Vidalia. He was Baptist by faith.

Survivors include his wife, Madelle Wheeler, Vidalia; two sons, Charles Wheeler and Wendell Wheeler, both of Vidalia; four daughters, Jeannette Thurman and Brenda Clark, both of Vidalia, Joyce Franke, Sparta and Carol Cox, Soperton; one brother, Tillman Wheeler, Adrian; one sister, Irene Craft, Columbia, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 1, 2002, at 3:00 p.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with the Reverend Jason Corbett and the Reverend Brian Patrick officating. Interment followed in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Travis McBride, Emory Davis, Russell Mosley, Tony Brooks, Danny Smith and Tom Peterson.

Mrs. Farrie Ann Garrett Wright

Mrs. Farrie Ann Garrett Wright, age 89, Lyons, died Friday, May 31, 2002, in Bethany Home Nursing Center of Vidalia following an extended illness.

The Montgomery County native had resided most of her life in Toombs County. She was a homemaker and a member of Hammonds Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Frank Wright and Howard Wright, both of Lyons; one daughter, Elaine Mauldin, Glendale, Ariz.; one daughter-in-law, Lluuana Wright, Lyons; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 3, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Jones-Stewart Funeral Home of Lyons with the Reverend Jesse Browning and the Reverend W.E. "Bill" Thompson officiating. Interment followed in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Jeff Wright, Tony Wright, Brad Wright, Doug Wingate, Michael Grimes and Craig Snell.

Memorials may be made to Hammonds Baptist Church of Lyons.
