Mrs. Donnie Edenfield

Mrs. Donnie Burns Edenfield, age 92, Glenwood, died Sunday, August 18, 2002, in Peake Nursing Home of Macon following an extended illiness.

The native and lifelong Wheeler County resident was a homemaker and a member of Glenwood Methodist Church.

Survivors include seven daughters, Lillian Warren, Chesterfield, VA, Ann McWilliams, Virginia Mallard, Gerry Doolittle and Sandra Forehand, all of Macon, Kay Cundiff, Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Patricia Thompson, Marietta; one son, Ray Burns, Vidalia; one sister, Juanita Newman, Dublin; one nephew, Bobby Windham, Claxton; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, August 20, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in Glenwood Methodist Church with the Reverend Hubert Wheeler and the Revverend Jimmy Gilbert officiating. Interment followed in Edge Memorial Cemetery in Glenwood.

Pallbearers were Bobby Windham, Greg Burns, Jeff Mercer, Mark Forehand, John Burns and Kevin Wheeler.

Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Glenwood Chapel was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Mr. James Stapleton

Mr. James Marshall Stapleton, age 62, Vidalia, died Saturday, August 10, 2002, frominjuries sustained in an automobile accident.

The Emanuel County native had resided in Toombs County most of his life. He was a member of Pendleton Church of God.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Bryan Marihugh, Bryan, Ohio; one son, Barney Joe Stapleton McCombs, McBean, Ga.; one sister, Barbara Kight, Glenwood; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, August 14, 2002, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia with the Reverend Brain Powell and the Reverend Owens Waters officiating. Interment followed in New Hope Cemetery in Emanuel County.

Pallbearers were Dale Kight, Bobby Waters, Brandon Waters, Terry Powell, Allen Willis and Sammy Newsome.

Mrs. Merttie Sikes

Mrs. Merttie Marie (Boots) Sikes, age 63, Cobbtown, died Tuesday, August 13, 2002, in Meadows Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Toombs County and had lived for the past 34 years in Cobbtown. She was a homemaker and a member of the Cobbtown Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mary and John Willis, and two sisters, Dorothy Pye and Dean Shuman.

Survivors include her husband, Rayford Bully Sikes, Cobbtown; one sone and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Bridgett Clifton, Vidalia; two daughters and one son-in-law, Felishia and Mark Finch, Collins, and Lecia Burton, Kibbee; two sisters, Conetha Key, Vidalia, and Eloise Hankins, Savannah; three grand-sons, Shane and T. J. Clifton and Jonathan Burton, all of Vidalia;two granddaughters, Krystal Finch, Collins, and Marlisa Burton, Cobbtown; a special friend, Bernice Frazier; and serveral nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, august 16, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in the Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes Cobbtown Chapel with Rev. Calvin Durrence officiating. Interment followed in the Sunlight Cemetery.

Pallvearers were T. J. Clifton, Don Sikes, Jonathan Burton, Mark Finch, Jeff Sikes and Dewayne Sikes. Honorary pallbearers were deacon of the Cobbtown Baptist Church.

Miss Angel Johnson

Miss Angel Johnson, infant daughter of Al and Jesslyn Johnson, Vidalia, died Friday, August 16, 2002, in Doctors Hospital in Augusta.

Survivors, in additions to her parents, include one sister, Josie Johnson, Vidalia; her maternal grandparents, Harold and Keller Morris, Higgston, her paternal grandparents, Pete and Gail Johnson, Long Pond; and hermaternal great-grandmother, Eudene Morris, Higgston.

Graveside services were conducted Sunday, August 18, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in Long Pond Cemetery with the Reverend Jim Duvall officiating.

Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Mr. James Smith, Sr.

Mr. James Hoyt "Jim" Smith, Sr., age 83, Vidalia, died Monday, August 12, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness.

The Birchwood, Tenn., native moved to Vidalia in 1954. He was retired from Piggly Wiggly Southern Warehouse with more than 25 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Jackson Smith, in 1999.

Survivors include two sons, James Hoyt Smith, Jr., Vidalia, and Benjamin Harrison Smith, Roswell; one sister, Annie Lee Smith, Birchwood; two grandchildren, Lauren Smith and Lindzi Smith, both of Roswell; and one niece and one nephew.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, August 14, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia with the Reverend Jay Warthen officiating. Interment followed in Pinecrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chip Matheson, Harold Hodges, Milan Gay, Glen Mixon, Ben Davis, James Thompson and Guy Branch.

Mrs. Doris Danzig

Mrs. Doris E. Danzig, are 77, Vidalia, died Saturday, August 17, 2002, at her residence following an extended illness.

The Rochester, N.Y., native had resided in Florida for many years and in Vidalia for the past14 years. She was a retied electronic technician and a member of the Vidalia congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors include one daughter, Holly Schaefer, Vidalia; one son, Robert Danzig, Daytona, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, August 24, 2002, at 3:00 p.m. in the Vidalia congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses with Leon Manuel officiating. Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service of Vidalia is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
