Lyons, Toombs County, Georgia - Shalela Lashaa Jones, 8, died Oct. 10.
The Toombs County native was a third-grader at Lyons Elementary School. She was a Charger cheerleader for the Lyons Recreation Department.
SURVIVORS: her father, Donnie Blaine of Vidalia; her mother, Cheryl Evans of Lyons; her stepfather, Manvester Evans of Lyons; her godfather, David Brown of Texas; two brothers, Kenny Manuel and Blair Jones, both of Lyons; maternal grandparents, Mary Jones of Lyons and Henry Jones of Pahokee, Fla.; and paternal grandparents, Sarah and Edgar Blaine, both of Vidalia.
FUNERAL: 3 p.m. today at Evergreen Church of God in Christ, Vidalia. Burial will be in the Macon Cemetery in Lyons.

Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia - Helen Herndon Pruitt, died Oct. 12 at Baptist Medical Center.
The Laurens County native lived in Toombs County for many years and in Atlanta for the past 40 years. She was a hairdresser in Vidalia, working with her daughter in Linda and Helen's Beauty Shop. She was a member of Alston Baptist Church.
SURVIVORS: her husband, Royston Pruitt of Cumming; a daughter, Linda Conner of Sandy Springs; a stepson, Turk Pruitt of Cumming; a brother and sister-in-law, Percy and Lillian Herndon of Uvalda; nieces; nephews and other relatives.
VISITATION: 2 p.m. today at Murchison Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: 3 p.m. today at Murchison Funeral Home. Burial in Sharpe Cemetery near Alston.

Vidalia, Toombs County, Georgia - Charlie V. Wells Sr. died Oct. 10 at Veterans Administration Hospital, Dublin.
The Coffee County native was a World War II veteran. He was a member of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the board of deacons.
SURVIVORS: four sons, Charles V. Wells Jr. of Vidalia, Hubert O. Wells of Montgomery, Ala., Danny J. Wells of Atlanta and Leon E. Wells of Tallahassee, Fla.; seven daughters, Carolyn Jones, Patricia Harris and Christine Burgin, all of Atlanta, Claudette Williams, Gertrude Dickerson and Barbara Gillis, all of Vidalia, and Vivian Foos of Tallahassee, Fla.; two sisters, Daisy McLemore of Cleveland and Verdell Boyd of Lawrenceville; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives.
VISITATION: 7-8 p.m. today at Vidalia Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Monday at Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
