George W. Adams, 89, Obituary

Lyons, Toombs County, Georgia - George W. Adams, 89, died Aug. 15 at home.

He was a native of Lyons, and a longtime resident of Savannah. He retired from Continental Can after 40 years, and owned Adam's Bait Shop in Thunderbolt for 25 years.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Gladys H. Adams of Savannah; five sons, George W. Adams Jr., Joe Richard, James Thomas, Donald Davis, and Lester Stanley Adams, all of Savannah; two daughters, Betty Beauchane of Bloomingdale, and Shirley Bielat of New Baltimore, Mich.; a sister, Marie Harley of Rincon; a brother, Douglas Rogers of Rincon; and 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

VISITATION: 4-7 p.m. today at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

FUNERAL: 3 p.m. Monday at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Lewis E. "Runt" Chambers, 61, Obituary

Uvalda, Montgomery County, Georgia - Lewis E. "Runt" Chambers, 61, died Aug. 14 at Jeff Davis County hospital, Hazlehurst.

He was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County, a member of Uvalda Church of God and retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Lois Chambers of Uvalda; a daughter, Regina Holmes of Lyons; three stepsons, Tommy Spivey of Vidalia, Steve Spivey of Lyons, and Mark Spivey of Kibbee; his parents, Lewis J. and Pauline Chambers of Uvalda; a brother, Dennis Chambers of Uvalda; two sisters, Johnnie Foskey of Uvalda, and Ouida Smiley of Savannah; and five grandchildren, a nephew and two nieces.

VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Ronnie L. Stewart and Son Funeral Service, Vidalia.

FUNERAL: 3 p.m. Monday at Ronnie L. Stewart and Son Funeral Service, Vidalia, burial in Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Vidalia.

James E. Hardiman, 71, Obituary

Metter, Candler County, Georgia - James E. Hardiman, 71, died Aug. 14 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was a native of Toombs County, an Army veteran and a meat cutter.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Lily Hardiman of Metter; two daughters, Sheryl Yawn of Chauncy, and Sandi Grimes of Eastman; three sons, Bill Hardiman of Stillmore, Mike Hardiman of Metter, and Mark Hardiman of Vidalia; a sister, Edna Hitchcock of Vidalia; and 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL: 4 p.m. today at Wood Funeral Home, Metter, burial in Cool Springs Cemetery.

John H. "Jay" Pittman, 43, Obituary

Uvalda, Montgomery County, Georgia - John H. "Jay" Pittman, 43, died Aug. 14 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Augusta.

He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, an accountant, and a member of Cedar Cross Church of God. He was an Army veteran having served for 12 years.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Denise Pittman of Cedar Crossing; a daughter, Stacy Pittman of Cedar Crossing; two sons, Timmy and Nathan Pittman, both of Cedar Crossing; his parents, Jesse and Betty Pittman of Cedar Crossing; a brother, Craig Pittman of Waycross; two sisters, Lekeeta Seller of Swainsboro, and Kim Pittman of Cedar Crossing; and a grandson, Jared Pittman of Cedar Crossing.

FUNERAL: 4:30 p.m. today at Cedar Cross Church of God, Uvalda, burial in Harden's Chapel Cemetery, Lyons.
