Lyons, Toombs County, Georgia - Alonzo "Smurf" Brinson, 51, died Aug. 13 at Meadows Regional Nursing Facility in Vidalia.
He was born in Toombs County and worked at "Smurf" Full Service Car Wash and Detail Center in Vidalia. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Vidalia.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Margaret Brinson of Lyons; a daughter, Elizabeth Brinson of Lyons; two sons, Albert Brinson of Lyons and Leonard Ross Kent of Augusta; his mother, Ethel Tillman of Lyons; three sisters, Mable Smith of Deerfield, Fla., Janice Ford of Vidalia and Sheila Marshall of Atlanta; two brothers, Clement Brinson and Willie James Brinson, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL: 3 p.m. today at Macedonia Baptist Church in Lyons, burial in Piney Green Cemetery in Lyons.

Lyons, Toombs County, Georgia - Mrs. Mollie Anderson Cox, 88, died Aug. 20 at home.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Toombs County. She was a homemaker and a member of Edmund's Chapel Church of God near Lyons.
SURVIVORS: three daughters, Nadine and Freeda Toole, both of Lyons, and Molly Ann Hobbs of Vidalia; four sons, Thad and Walton Cox, both of Jacksonville, Fla., Wilton Cox of Lyons and Benny Cox of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Donna Belle Alford of Jacksonville; a brother, George Anderson of Kite; 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 6-9 p.m. today at Jones-Stewart Funeral Home in Lyons.
FUNERAL: 3 p.m. Sunday at Edmund's Chapel Church of God, burial in the church cemetery.

Mount Vernon, Montgomery County, Georgia - Wilbert Powell, 39, died Aug. 16 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
He was born in Vidalia. He worked at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia. He had served in the Army and the Georgia National Guard.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Carolyn Powell of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Consuelo Fillmore of Havelock, N.C.; five sons, Byron Filmore of Havelock, and Paul Waller, Timothy Jackson, Wilbert Powell Jr., and Douglas Powell, all of Mount Vernon; his mother, Edortha Powell of Mount Vernon; two sisters, Mary Carswell of Mount Vernon and Sarah Powell of Vidalia; two brothers, Ray Charles Powell of Vidalia and Matthew Powell of Mount Vernon; and six grandchildren.
FUNERAL: 11:30 a.m. today at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Vidalia, burial in East Park Cemetery in Vidalia.
