Vidalia, Toombs County, Georgia - Mary Mac Newton McArthur, 98, died Jan. 19 at home.
She was a native of Toombs County. She graduated from Georgia Normal College in Milledgeville and received a degree in library science from Georgia Southern in 1939. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Vidalia.
She completed her husband's unexpired term as clerk of Toombs County Superior Court in 1936. She held teaching and school administrative positions in Concord, Mount Vernon, Lyons, Toombs Central, Savannah, Brunswick and Waycross.
SURVIVORS: a stepdaughter, Mary Ann Spooner of Stone Mountain; a son and daughter-in-law, Clinton N. and Pat Newton of Alpharetta; four sisters, Abbie Phillips, Tiny Threlkeld and Addie Adams, all of Vidalia, and Ruth Partin of Lyons; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, two stepgrandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Murchison Funeral Home in Vidalia.
FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Vidalia, burial in Lyons City Cemetery in Lyons.

Swainsboro, Emanuel County, Georgia - Mrs. Nell Juanita Rushing, 87, died Jan. 18 at Swainsboro Nursing Home.
She was a native of Emanuel County, a homemaker and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
SURVIVORS: three daughters, Shirley Wilson of Scott, Dorothy McGraw of Alma and Joyce Nobles of Louisville, Ky.; a son, Henderson Ovid Robitzsch of Lyons; a sister, Johnnie Bee Johnson of Orlando, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary in Swainsboro.
FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Friday at Southside Baptist Church, burial in Eastbrook Cemetery & Mausoleum in Swainsboro.

Alston, Montgomery County, Georgia - Sarah Elizabeth Johnson Wilson, 80, died Jan. 20 at Hospice Savannah.
She was a native of Montgomery County and a resident of Montgomery and Toombs counties. She was a retired nurse and a member of Alston Baptist Church.
SURVIVORS: three daughters, Tommie W. James and Gail Blaxton, both of Lyons, and Metalis W. Joyner of Tybee Island; a son, Gary H. Wilson of Uvalda; three sisters, Lucille Johnson and Elease Johnson Davis, both of Alston, and Virginia Johnson Fountain of Mount Vernon; a brother, H.J. Johnson of Alston; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Murchison Funeral Home in Vidalia.
FUNERAL: 3 p.m. Friday at Alston Baptist Church, burial in Sharpe Cemetery near Alston.
