Lyons, Toombs County, Georgia - Wilson Edward Collins, 80, died Oct. 29 at Meadows Regional Nursing Center of Vidalia.
The lifelong resident of Toombs County served in the Navy CB's in World War II and was a residential and commercial building contractor in the Toombs County area from 1946 until retiring in 1990.
He was a former president and director of the Lyons Chamber of Commerce, a Lyons city councilman from 1962-1965 and served as mayor in 1965-1966. He was a member of Lyons Lions Club, which he served as a director and as president, and Lyons Merchants Association. He was 1972 Lyons Citizen of the Year.
He was founder of Toombs County Service Center, founder and president of the Toombs County Association of Retarded Citizens, a member of the Georgia Association of Retarded Citizens and a director of Southeaster Regional Board 13, representing Toombs County. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Lyons since 1948, serving on many committees and was a deacon from 1959-1963 and amember of The Men's Barraca Sunday School Class.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Joyce Wrenn Collins of Lyons; a son, Donald Edward Collins of Sharpsburg; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rebecca C. and Tommy A. Rollins and Carol Ann Collins, all of Lyons; stepchildren, David and Debbie Collins of Walterboro, S.C., Dean and Linda Collins of Dacula and Lafayette and Joy C. Lyle of Hendersonville, S.C.; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Jones-Stewart Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Lyons, burial in Lyons City Cemetery.
REMEMBRANCES: United Way, designated to Toombs County A.R.C.; or First Baptist Church of Lyons Building Fund.

Vidalia, Toombs County, Georgia - Genera M. Herron, 86, died Oct. 28 at Bethany Nursing Center.
The native of Emanuel County lived most of her life in Toombs County. She was a license practical nurse at Bethany Nursing Center in Vidalia for many years and a member of Vidalia Church of God of Prophecy.
SURVIVORS: two daughters, Lavette McGahee of Lyons and Minnie Voncile Mills of Stockbridge; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL: 2 p.m. today at Murchison Funeral Home, burial in Antiock Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Emanuel County.

Statesboro, Bulloch County, Georgia - Mrs. Juanita D. Lewis, 80, died Oct. 29 at home.
The Candler County native moved to Bulloch County in 1954 and was a seamstress for 47 years. She retired in 1998 from Pride Manufacturing Co. She was a member of Hebron Primitive Baptist Church for more than 35 years.
SURVIVORS: two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Libby Lewis of Nevils and Gerald and Lynn Lewis of Vidalia; a daughter, Virginia Lewis of Statesboro; two brothers, G.W. Durden and Euell Durden, both of Metter; two sisters, Velleta Cannady of Twin City and Deloras Froberg of Conley; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: 6-9 p.m. today at Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, Metter.
FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hebron Primitive Baptist Church, burial in the church cemetery.
REMEMBRANCES: Ogeechee Hospice.
