Mr. James Franklin "Dick" Palmer Obituary

Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia - Mr. James Franklin "Dick" Palmer, 79, died Friday, August 1, 2003 at University Hospital. Mr. Palmer was a devoted husband of 55 years to Mrs. Catherine "Cat" Cornelia Copeland Lundy Palmer. Mr. Palmer was a native of Vidalia and had made Augusta his home for the past 60 years. He had retired from Columbia Nitrogen as an Insulator. Mr. Palmer was a former member of the Briarcreek Hunting Club in Burke County and was a humanitarian and a Democrat. He was preceded in death by his eight brothers, Patrick Palmer of Vidalia, Judge E. Palmer of Langley, SC, Eddie Palmer, Barthelow Palmer, Nelson Palmer, Lincoln Palmer, Lewis Palmer, Denny Palmer; two sisters, Bonnie Warnock and Rosebud Adams of Vidalia. Survivors: one son, James "Butch" Richard Palmer of Augusta; a devoted niece, Darlene Merkerison Spires of Bath, SC; many nieces, nephews, and cousin. Pallbearers: JoAnne Katzer, Scotty Merkerison, Tracy Merkerison, Jonathan Riggs, David Copeland, Dennis Copeland, Bugger Weeks. Platts Funeral Home.
