Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia - Laverne Phillips Bennett died December 1, 2003 at Candler Hospital.
She was born in New York City in 1914, daughter of Edward and Kathryn Fielis. She came to Georgia to Study ballet with Dorothy Alexander in 1933.
She was an active member of St. Georges Episcopal Church and former member of St. Michaels and All Angels, an active member of the Humane Society and an early backer of the Savannah Science Museum, then called Savannah Museum for Young People. She was a member of the Savannah Yacht Club. She graduated from the University of Georgia and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, A. P. Little Jr. and her second husband, Richard A. Belford, her son, A.P. Little III, her daughter, Barbara Little Williams, her sister, Barbara Fielis Elliott, and her brother, Lee Fielis.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard A. Susan G. Belford Jr. and William Lee and Cathy Cullum Belford; daughter-in-law, Sally R. Little all of Savannah; grandchildren, William Lee Belford Jr., Patricia Belford Mitchell, Lyn Little McCuen, David P. Little, Laura Little Bossie, Ralph G. Kuhn III all of Savannah, R. Scott Belford of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Erin Belford Lyons of Hillsborough, N.C., Kathy Williams Isaacson of Opelika, AL, T. Ned Williams of Nashville, TN. and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 2003 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel. Memorial Services: 12:00 Noon, Friday, December 5, 2003 at St. Georges Episcopal Church.

Uvalda, Montgomery County, Georgia - Billy Carlos Brown 55, died Monday, December 8, 2003.
Survivors: son, Billy Joe Brown; daughter, Tracy Dupont; and others.
Funeral Services: 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at Uvalda Methodist Church.
Burial: Uvalda City Cemetery.

Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia - Laverne Phillips Bennett 74, of Savannah, Georgia, a retired United Methodist Church pastor, died Sunday afternoon, December 7, 2003, at Riverview Health and Rehabilitation Center under the care of Hospice Savannah.
He was the son of a United Methodist minister and was himself a retired Methodist minister. Reverend Quillian was a graduate of Piedmont College and of Emory University, Candler School of Theology. Locally, he served as pastor of White Bluff United Methodist Church from 1964-1968, Vidalia First Methodist Church from 1975-1978, and Grace United Methodist Church from 1978-1981.
He is survived by his daughter, Abda Lee Quillian and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be private.
