Lucille Hughes Lanigan Obituary

Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia - Lucille Hughes Lanigan, 81, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Candler Hospital.

The Toombs County native was a longtime resident of Savannah. She was retired from Union Camp Corp.

Survivors: sister, Elise Santschi of Sylvania; brother, Horace Hughes of Columbus, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2003 in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.

Mary Lou Bowie Thompson Obituary

Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia - Mary Lou Bowie Thompson, 107, died Sunday, July 13, 2003 at her residence.

Mrs. Thompson was born November 23, 1895 in Abbeville, SC, the daughter of Robert and Mary Mundy Bowie. She was a 1914 graduate of Winthrop College. She taught in the North Carolina school system until her marriage, then taught in the Montgomery County school system until her retirement at age 70. She was a member of the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 67 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence N. Thompson, Sr.; sons, L.N. "Tommy" Thompson, Jr., R.T. "Bob" Thompson and W.N. "Bill" Thompson.

Survivors: daughter, Elizabeth T. "Libby" Bibb of Mount Vernon; 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the family residence.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Thompson and Rev. Nita Krump Howard officiating.

Burial: Thompson Family Cemetery, on Old River Rd. in Mt. Vernon.
