Collins, Tatnall County, Georgia - Milo Walter Jarrell, 88, died Monday, May 12, 2003 at Candler County Hospital. The Tattnall County native and lifelong resident retired from J.H. Parker Oil Company. He was a member of Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church, teacher and director of the Bible Study, member and a past secretary of Roger Wood Masonic Lodge. He was predeceased by a daughter, Carolyn Weitman, granddaughter, Debra Weitman and great- grandson, James Milo Jarrell, Jr.
Survivors: wife, Maggie H. Jarrell of Collins; sons and daughter-in-law, Rev. J. Walter and Linda Jarrell of Vidalia, and Kenneth Jarrell of Collins; daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and Paul Rivers of Hinesville; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren , and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist, minister Elder Tom Deal.
Burial: Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers: John W. Jarrell, Jr., Kenneth Rivers, Patrick Rivers, James Jarrell, Michael Jarrell, and Dennis Gerrald.

Bloomingdale, Chatham County, Georgia - Herbert Arnold Stephens, Jr., , 74, died on Monday, May 12, 2003 at St. Josephs Hospital. Born in Toombs County, Mr. Stephens had lived in West Chatham for 43 years. He was a member of the Trinity Church of God, retired from Union Camp after 31 years of service and served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling and was preceded in death by a son, Alfred Stephens.
Survivors: wife of 47 years, Ruth Elizabeth Stephens of Bloomingdale; children, Alma Matthews of Middleburg, FL, Robert G. Stephens of Bloomingdale and Ben S. Stephens of Pooler; nine grandchildren and a great-grandson; brothers, Harold and Howard Stephens, both of Port Wentworth, Wade Stephens of Lyons and Bobby Stephens of Vidalia; sisters, Mary Horton of Port Wentworth, Nellie Williams of Lyons and Linda Morris of Higgston and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 at the funeral home.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 15, at the Trinity Church of God. Mr. Stephens will lie in state from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Church.
Graveside Funeral: 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15 at the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Toombs County.
