Hiawassee, Towns County, Georgia - Melvin Emory Arnsdorff, 67, died Friday, May 16, 2003 at Clay County Care Center in Hayesville, NC. The Effingham County native was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Springfield. He was retired from the State of Georgia Dept. of Transportation, the Air National Guard, and was a member of RE-ACT. He was preceded in death by his wife, LaGay Murdaugh Arnsdorff; parents, Bertie W. and Mildren Gnann Arnsdorff; grandson, Casey Lyons; sister, Jeanette Arnsdorff; and brother, Mitchell Arnsdorff. Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Atwell of Greenville, AL; son, Glen Arnsdorff of Montgomery, AL; stepdaughter, Cathey Lyons of Islandton, SC; stepson, Dale Lyons of Rincon; eight grandchildren; sister, Bernice Jaudon of Springfield. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m., Sunday at Bethel Lutheran Church. Lyons, Toombs County, Georgia - Loree Sapp Wilkes, 86, a lifelong resident of Lyons, died Friday, May 16, 2003 in the Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia after a brief illness.
A native of Toombs County, she was retired from Peoples Bank of Lyons and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lyons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Oren Wilkes; brothers, Harold Sapp and Thomas Sapp; and sister, Evelyn Carson.
Mrs. Wilkes is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Lloyd Darby of Vidalia, Elaine and Dan McSwain of Atlanta, and Joan and Randy Davis of Lawrenceville; sister, Margaret Clifton of Lyons; brother, Felix Sapp of New Orleans, LA; ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6:00-9:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 18 at First United Methodist Church of Lyons with Rev. Dr. Max Hill, Rev. Bobby Dixon, and Jay McSwain officiating.
Burial: Lyons City Cemetery.
