Sibyl W. Cowart Obituary

Pooler, Chatham County, Georgia - Sibyl W. Cowart, 71, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at her home.

The Montgomery County native was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pooler and the Harvesters Sunday School Class. She formerly worked for the Life Insurance Company of Beta Sigma Phi at large.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Robert and Sarah Whitaker; daughters, Robin McLeod, Joyce McLeod and Monica Cowart Ergle; and a brother, Duncan Whitaker.

Survivors: husband, Bobby C. Cowart of Pooler; daughter, Beverlyn Masters of Charlotte, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Monice McLeod of Vidalia; sister, Helen Barfield of Vidalia; four grandsons, James D. Harris, Brian McLeod of Charleston, SC, Christopher McLeod of Atlanta, Dell Saxon of Statesboro; granddaughter, Wanda Gregory; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 3 at First Baptist Church in Pooler with Rev. Otis Hill and Rev. Tony Saxon officiating. Viewing at the church after 9:30 a.m.

Graveside Service: 4:00 p.m., at Ferguson Cemetery in Higgston, GA with viewing after 3:00 p.m. at the cemetery.

Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be the Harvest Sunday School Class and the Deacons of the Pooler First Baptist Church.

Remembrances: Monica Cowart Ergle Scholarship Fund at the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 506, Highway 80 West, Pooler, GA 31322.

Vidalia, Toombs County, Georgia - Vernon Lockley, 77, died Thursday, May 1, 2003.

Survivors: wife, Lottie Lockley, children and others.

Visitation: 6:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Funeral Services: 2:00 Saturday, at the chapel of the funeral home.

Burial: Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
