Mary Earline "Lee" Hatcher Fleming Obituary

Cocoa Beach, Brevard Co., FL - Mary Earline "Lee" Hatcher Fleming died November 14, 2003 at Cape Canaveral Hospital at age 76. Born in Americus, GA, to Earl Hatcher and Mary Eloise Joyner, she was raised in Normantown, GA.

She graduated Vidalia High School in 1944 and joined the Nurses Corps during WWII. She received her Nursing degree from Emory University School of Nursing in Atlanta in 1947. She married James Evans Fleming of Thomasville, GA, on June 11, 1948 in Americus, GA. She was widowed in February of 1991 in Fairfax, VA.

The late Mr. Fleming was the President of Air Land Systems, Inc., and they lived in Mantua Hills for the majority of their married life. Lee, as she preferred to be called, served the majority of her nursing career at Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, VA, in the OB.

She is survived by her brother, Herschel Hatcher of Sharpsburg, GA; three sons, Lindsay Eric Fleming of Tampa, FL, Randall Earl Fleming of Merritt Island, FL, and James Evans Fleming, Jr., of Breckenridge, CO; five grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thanks to Dr. Robert Udell, the nurses at Cape Canaveral Hospital and the Hospice of Health First for the fine care she received in her last days.

Services are planned for her home in Merritt Island at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2003.

Mrs. Mary Alice Kirkland Johnson Obituary

Mt. Vernon, Montgomery Co., GA - Mrs. Mary Alice Kirkland Johnson, died Wednesday, November 12, in the St. Vincents Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida after a brief illness.

She was a native of Clinch County, moving to the Long Pond Community about 1984, was a homemaker, a mother, and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David Edward and Nora Riberon Kirkland.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, John Johnson of Mt. Vernon; three sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Bonnie Johnson of Orlando, Florida, Richard and Marilyn Johnson of Screven and John A. and Julie Johnson of Long Pond; two sisters, Lou Ellen Hartsfield of Orange Park, Florida and Martha Helen Harmon of Homerville; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Alice Johnson will be held Saturday, November 15, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Phillips and Reverend Frank Hendrix officiating. Interment to follow in Long Pond Cemetery near Uvalda.

Millard P. Lockley Obituary

Vidalia, Toombs County, Georgia - Millard P. Lockley, 79, died Wednesday, November 12, 2003.

Survivors: one son, M. Gregory Lockley; three daughters, Elaine Lockley, Kristan Perovich, Ruth Ann McDonnell.

Funeral Services: 11:00 Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial: Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Beulah D. Smiley Obituary

Glennville, Tattnall Co., GA - Mrs. Beulah D. Smiley, 86, died Thursday, November 13 at Tattnall Nursing Care.

The Long County native was the oldest member of the Glennville First United Pentecostal Church. She was formerly employed by Armstrong Cricket Farm and was a loving wife, mother and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Willie Smiley; son, Jimmy Smiley; and son-in-law, Wayne Fennell. Survivors include: daughter, Joyce Fennell, Glennville; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Sarah Smiley, Ludowici, Glenn and Mary Jack Smiley, Savannah; Bobby and Shirley Smiley, Waynesboro, Ricky and Glenda Smiley, Glennville, Linda Smiley, Lyons; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00 at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville. Funeral Services: Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Glennville First United Pentecostal Church.

Burial: Poplar Head Church Cemetery in Long County.
