Mrs. Mabel Dowdy Obituary

Vidalia, Toombs County, Georgia - Mrs. Mabel Dowdy, 101, died Thursday, October 9, 2003.

Survivors: four daughters, one son, and others. Visitation: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, until the funeral hour at the funeral home.

Funeral Services: 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial: Center Methodist Church Cemetery.

Ben Edward Lane Obituary

Vidalia, Toombs County, Georgia - Ben Edward Lane, 80, died Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at his residence.

He was a native of Jenkins County, living in Vidalia since 1967. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, and was retired from Interstate Oil Company as an owner-operator. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Vidalia, and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class with perfect attendance for twelve years.

Mr. Lane is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Teri and Allen Johnson of Vidalia, Peggy and Tony Rogers of Waynesboro; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Debbie Lane of Reidsville; seven grandchildren, Chris Strickland and Benjamin Johnson of Vidalia, Jessica Hutto of Barnwell, SC, Brittany Johnson of Vidalia, Kayla and Alisha Lane of Reidsville, and Theresa Campbell of Brunswick; four great-grandchildren, his former wife, Joyce Parish of Vidalia; one sister, Bobbie Jean Christopher of Clearview, Florida; one brother, Rufus Lane of Millen; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Funeral services for Mr. Ben Edward Lane will be held Saturday, October 11, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Reverend David Knight, officiating.

Interment will follow in Millen City Cemetery in Millen at 4:00 p.m.

Murchison Funeral Home Vidalia.
