Lyons, Toombs County, Georgia - James Edward "J.E." Odom, 89, died Sunday, October 12, 2003 in Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia after an extended illness.
He was a native of Toombs County living in Baltimore, Maryland from 1946 until his return to Lyons in 1972. He was a graduate of Baltimore Tech. He was a general Inspector and mechanical engineer and during his military service he was a Naval Air Force Flight Engineer. He was a member of Lyons Masonic Lodge #49. A member of Omega Council #26 and the Royal Arch both Lyons. He was Past High Priest of the Royal Arch, a Shriner and a member of the Boumi Temple in Baltimore. He was a member of the Center United Methodist Church.
He preceded in death by his wife, Clara B. Odom and two sisters, Annie Vera Harrell and Elouise Krulic; a brother, Cecil Odom.
Survivors: two sisters, Kay Truett of Vidalia and Joyce Gay of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother, Bruce Odom of Lyons and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2003 in the Chapel of Murchison Funeral Home.
Burial: Lyons City Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites.
Murchison Funeral Home Vidalia.
