Uvalda, Montgomery Co, Georgia - Mrs. Emma Lou Claxton, age 82, of Uvalda, died Thursday night, March 11, in the Toombs Nursing Home of Lyons after extended illness.

Mrs. Claxton was a native of Toombs County, resided in Savannah for many years, and returned to Montgomery County, Uvalda in 1980. She was retired after many years of working with Kress five and ten and Campbells Dry Cleaners in Savannah, was a member of Mt. Vernon Senior Citizens and a member of Uvalda Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, CB Claxton in 1984, a son, Tommy Claxton in 1998, and a son, Roy Claxton in 2003.

Mrs. Claxton is survived by one daughter, Luann Yawn of Ellabell; one son, Ottis Claxton of Savannah; seven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Lou Claxton will be conducted Sunday afternoon, March 14, at 1:00 from Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. Jarrell Davis and Rev. Paul Carlson officiating.

Interment will follow in Uvalda City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6 until 8. The family request in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the Church of God of Uvalda or Mt. Vernon Senior Citizens.

Lyons, Toombs Co, Georgia - Mrs. Huelda Gay Usher, 76 , died Friday, March 12, 2004 in the Bethany Nursing Center in Vidalia after an extended illness.

She was a native of Treutlen County, living most of her life in Toombs County, was a retired hairdresser and a member of the First Baptist Church of Lyons.

Mrs. Usher is survived by three daughters, Susan Johnson and her husband, Ray of Baxley, Sandra Whitaker and her husband, Roy and Jaudon Connell and her husband, Todd all of Vidalia; one son, Dennis "Moose" Usher and his wife, Jenney of Lyons; two brothers, Douglas Gay and Milan Gay both of Lyons; one sister-in-law, Mary Will Gay of Lyons; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 14, 2004 in the Chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Lightsey and Reverend Junior Rowe officiating.

Intement: Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
