Mrs. Jean Rountree Essig, 78, Obituary

(August 31, 1926 - July 29, 2005)

Jacksonville, Florida - Mrs. Jean Rountree Essig, 78, was received into heaven by her Lord Jesus Christ on July 29, 2005.

Jean was born in Oak Park, GA on August 31, 1926. She was graduated from the University of Georgia and received a Master's Degree in Theology from Zoe College. Jean was a devout member of Christ the Redeemer Church and had a ministry of helping troubled girls. She was an incomparable wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and a valiant prayer warrior.

Family members include her husband of 33 years, Bill Essig; her two sons, Bert Turner (Karen) and Mark Essig; four daughters, Robyn Rhoads (Don), Melinda Wheeler (Steve), Dawn Hart (Hal) and Debra Waters. Other family members include her grandchildren, Cari McGowan (Sean), Maggie Venn (Jeffrey), Ellen Gardner (Mitch), Lauren Rhoads, Michael Turner (Katie), Joseph, Rebekah and David Turner; Henry, Christopher, and Travis Hart; Jonathon, Emma, and Susannah Waters; Stephen Wheeler, Meghan Elhasshan (Marc) and great-grandchildren Carli, Michael, Logan, Lily, Majed, and Mary. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially by extended family members and treasured friends Dale Williams (George), Becky Harper (Ferrell), Sue Best (Billy), Lynda Dickinson, Franklin Dickinson (Amy), Kristin LaManna, and Darrick Johnson (Christy).

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2005 at 3:30 pm in the Christ the Redeemer Church located at 190 South Roscoe Blvd., Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, with the Reverend Dr. Daniel Williams, officiating.

Interment services and burial will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, August 1, 2005 at the Lyons City Cemetery in Lyons, GA, 912-526-3151.
