Ernest Melvin "Bub" Claxton Obituary

Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia - Ernest Melvin "Bub" Claxton, 79, of Savannah, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002 at Hospice Savannah.

He was born in Toombs County, GA and moved to Savannah from Uvalda over 52 years ago. He was retired from Seaboard-Coastline Railroad, and was a member of the Railroad Retirees Club. He was a member of the Sanctuary, where he served on the Board of Deacons.

Survivors: his wife, Mrs. Janie Garrett Claxton of Savannah; son and daughter-in-law, Lester A. and Glenda Claxton of Savannah; daughter and son-in-law, Ernestine and Larry Klopp of Savannah; brother, Frank Claxton of Vidalia; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 4:00-6:00 p. m. and 7:00-9:00 p. m. Sunday at the Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home-Hodgson Memorial Chapel.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a. m. Monday in the Chapel of the Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home-Hodgson Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Lamar Terrell and Rev. Hugo Hammond, officiating.

Entombment: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Remembrances: Hospice Savannah, 6711 Laroche Ave., Savannah, GA 31406.
