Mrs. Martha J. Carroll

Louisville - Mrs. Martha J. Carroll, 81, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Hospice-Savannah, after a prolonged illness. Mrs. Carroll was a native of Moultrie, but spent most of her adult life in Louisville, GA. She was a graduate of GSCW with a degree in music and was a gifted pianist. She taught private piano, organ and voice lessons in Louisville for many years and also taught public school music at Louisville Academy. After the death of her husband, she moved to Vidalia and later to Magnolia Manor in Richmond Hill. Her last residence was John Wesley Villas in Savannah.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward B. Carroll and one son, Lt. Edward (Buddy) Carroll, Jr., U. S. Navy.

Survivors: daughter, Gayle C. Allen of Rincon; son, Thomas E. Carroll of Forsyth; grandchildren, Gerald J. Allen, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, Leslie C. Allen of Atlanta, and Edward B. Carroll, IV of Forsyth.

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p. m. Friday at the Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Louisville.

Graveside Service: 11:00 a. m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Louisville City Cemetery with Rev. Earl Seckinger officiating.

Remembrances: Springfield First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 237, Springfield, GA 31329. Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Louisville.

James Royce Holmes

Vidalia - James Royce Holmes, 68, expired Sept. 2 at Meadows Regional Medical Center.

Survivors: wife, Bessie Holmes; children, Betty J. Williams, Sharon Holmes, Mishelle Holmes, Buck Holmes, and Wendell White; mother, Estella Simpson.

Funeral: 11:00 a. m. Saturday St. Paul A. M.E. Church, Vidalia.

Burial: Eternal Glory Gardens. Vidalia Funeral Home.
